Adam Ounas

Ounas is Micky's alternative.
I think it's more likely we sign both. We don't really have many good attacking options considering Mourinho doesn't rate Mata, Lingard is average and Depay has been shocking

Agree with this completely.

We lack pace badly and Ibra will need some around him in order to deconstruct oppo's defenses.

Assume if he came in it'd probably mean the end for Pereira and Januzaj.

Consensus seems to be very talented, plays in a shite team, has a shite attitude.

So pretty much the exact same way you'd describe a young Ben Arfa. Worth a punt for 10 Million if that's the case.

Really hope we can beat Stoke to his signature!:p

Great talent but I hope we have an established RW in the pipeline, he's too raw right now to play every week.

Hope not, both are likely more talented then this guy, just need to be given a proper chance, especially Pereira.

How do you come to the conclusion that they are likely more talented than Ounas? Plus Pereira is a #10 or CM, Ounas and him wouldn't even be in competition for the same role.

He would be. We aren't going to carry that many youngsters in the team.

They play different positions though, Pereira needs to get past the CM's, Rooney and maybe Mkhitaryan to get into the squad as an option, Ounas needs to compete with Lingard.

He seems like such an annoying cnut to defend against. If we don't get him I hope he doesn't end up in a PL club.

Reminds me of DiMaria.

Not sure I said they were, my point is that our two are hugely talented and need a chance, Ounas may also be hugely talented, but I wouldn't want lose either of them if that is what has to happen if this lad comes in, that's what I was replying to.

Or we could go for Dortmunds Miki who is all those things you described but better

I'm not sure if Miki can do all these things better than Ounas.

My sample size was pretty small; 2.5 games in total although against better opponents (Monaco, Merseille and the first half against PSG). So it could be that he hit the purple patch when I watched him and that's where our scouts would have more and better info than me.

But from what little I've seen there are certain things that I liked about him that I don't like about Miki. For instance, as I wrote in my previous comment that his decision making for a 19 year kid on his breakthrough season was really impressive. Miki's decision making I find very frustrating as he's very selfish and often chooses poor passing options. In those games, there were moments when he's surrounded by 2/3 opposition players and he held the ball up very well before getting out of those tight situations through some slick footwork. I've seen Miki getting dispossessed a lot in those situations.

Of course Miki is far matured who just had his best season. And his numbers would suggest he's very consistent as well where as I can't comment on Ounas' consistency because of my small sample size. Therefore Miki would seem to be a safer bet at this moment.

But if what I've seen from Ounas is what he's going to produce consistently week in week out then I'd say he's a higher ceiling than Miki. Also players from French league seem to adapt to the PL much easier than from other leagues. Not to mention he's left footed and one that we don't have in our attacking options as I personally don't think Mata is a United player and Januzaj still has a big question mark hanging over his future.

If it's down to me and the scouts reports says he's pretty consistent (I'd consider 1 in every 3 [1 good, 1 average and 1 below average game] in what was his first season), I'd buy both.

I read the bid is £8m. Pretty sure he will be signed to add some depth to the squad and we will still go after Mkhitaryan for the first team

Your post said "both are likely more talented then this guy." I've only seen Pereira in U21 games so it's hard to judge and Januzaj started well but has had 2 dead seasons. Ounas offers something very different, I watched him several times last season and he's not the finished article or anything but he is blisteringly fast off the mark and has that low center of gravity that gives him great control at speed, just a different type of player to any we have in the squad.

Well I will bow to your better knowledge then, but it is easy to get carried away by a new shiny signing whilst ignoring the players you already have, Pereira and Januzaj have undoubted talent and I just don't want to see it wasted, I'm not saying Ounas will hinder that chance though, as I said the post I was replying to alluded to probability of one of them leaving if this lad joins us.

I don't know if Januzaj will get another chance but I could see Jose giving games to Pereira in the #10 spot next season, I just think overall they all offer different things and a club United's size should be about competition to make the manager use you so to speak.

Boudebouz was also good with Sochaux :p

Boudebouz is inconsistent but when he plays well he can dominate a game, he was able to do that at Sochaux at a young age. My problem with someone like Ounas, Khazri or Thauvin (and I was duped by Thauvin) is that they are Youtube players, they do pretty things but in the great scheme of things they are useless if their teammates don't do all the work for them.

I like what I see and he's left footed. Think we need one of those. Will cost far more an €10m when he's sold.

@JPRouve

Yeah, when you watch Youtube videos, you could be tempted to say Ben Arfa is a greater player than Robben or Messi.

Regarding Thauvin, I'm disappointed by his performances with Newcastle & Marseille. A mess.

I learned long ago that the Caf scouting department sucks balls.
#signeverybody

How long before he gets compared to Obertan or Bellion?

Will point out that Ounas has likely been "discovered" at United by the same scout who recommended Antony Martial. Make of that what you like

More playtime at other clubs tbf.

Yes, but you don't turn down a date with Megan Fox because Judy down the road is offering a relationship ;)

If Ounas doesn't fulfill his potential, clubs like Stoke etc. will still be willing to take a risk on you (eg. Bojan.) The door to joining one of the biggest clubs in the World doesn't open as frequently.

Maybe this is totally off but this guy gives me Damien Duff vibes

Yea because Duff could do 0-60mph in two days a go.

I like the look of this kid. Fairly unheard of so should be worth a punt at £10m-ish. Reminds me a bit of Nani on his not often enough good days. Can beat a man from a standing start which is always good.

Yeah, I admittedly know very little about him, but what I will say from his YouTube videos is that the highlights he produces are along the lines of what I'd want from whomever we sign to play RW. Whether or not he can produce that consistently or we sign somebody that can is yet to be seen. If the club rate him then for that kind of price he looks a decent punt based on my very limited viewing of him.

Kharzi has looked good at Sunderland, but thats probably his level.

From that youtube vid he looks good. Very positive, rapid and direct.

But then I remember Obertan looked amazing..

To be fair Obertan was probably the only player that looked useless in Youtube.

Are you sure, before he joined us I watched his youtube video and he was ghosting past players for fun.

He was at Ounas' level but it was clear that he wouldn't up his game.

Everyone was very surprised in France to see Obertan moving to United because he used to play for Bordeaux & Lorient: he was a trivial player.

An offensive players whose stats are: 3 goals in 80 games between 2006 & 2009...

No hype. No stats. No Joga Bonito gestures.

Probably just a flag like 'Player who played for France U21'.
