ABU Pundits

The angle that United were "lucky" that Fulham completely imploded is a strange take...I never heard anyone saying Southampton were "lucky" when Casemiro was sent off.

The story today was 100% Fulham losing the plot after a blatant penalty was awarded correctly by the referee.

Not that I support the angle but I think that storylines are usually told from the perspective of the favorite, unless it’s a true Cinderella story and magic of the cup and all that.

Arsenal and Chelsea.

Makes a change though. The last 8 years your domestic cup draws have been insanely kind. Even talk about it on Bluemoon. Hahaha.

And you did get a championship side in both the quarter and now semi final which is unheard of.

I was on a stream where the co-commentator 10 minutes into the match belittled people calling Martinez world class. Said he was slow. Anyone know who that was?
I think it was Stewart Robson (ESPN). Yeah I thought his comments about Martinez were a bit odd.

From Wiki:
Stewart Ian Robson (born 6 November 1964) is an English former football player and TV and radio football pundit. He played for Arsenal, West Ham United where he was their player of the season in 1988, and Coventry City. After his footballing career ended he took on a role as a TV and radio pundit for Arsenal TV until 2012, ESPN, TalkSPORT and BT Sport. He is currently ESPN's lead co-commentator for FA Cup and EFL Cup working alongside Jon Champion, and Bundesliga with Derek Rae.

I will say, I don't necessarily disagree with Keane that we got lucky today. Not from the refereeing; the calls were the correct one and I'd actually say Chris Kavanagh handled a difficult situation very professionally. But we did get lucky that Mitrovic and Silva were so boneheaded; up until that Fulham were well on top of the match and we were playing awfully.

I guess it's probably because the cup is usually when we've rested players but we have probably rode our luck a bit in terms of making it through the ties against Everton, West Ham and Fulham; we didn't play particularly well in any of them.
Yeah but we would have equalised if it was handed on the line. If it were a stupid pen out of nowhere I’d agree but that pen was from the result of a guaranteed equaliser.
You can not play well and still not be out of the game, that’s not really luck

I never said they were a tough game. They were certainly a tougher draw on paper being a big 6 side.

If Arsenal are the only decent side it says nothing for you falling over the line vs Fulham on the back of Reading and 2 relegation battlers?

Will Brighton be the first decent side you've faced? Trying to figure out what constitutes a decent side here.
The fact that you only responded with the two PL opponents, and ignored the three championship draws you've been given, was clearly an attempt to make your draws sound tougher.

As regards our draws: much keeps being made about United being 'lucky' for getting home draws. As if drawing Fulham was 'lucky' when we could've had 3 Championship or even League 2 opponents! Or drawing Everton in Round 3 is 'lucky' when we could've had all kinds of EFL or even non-league sides at that stage.

If we'd kept getting lower league clubs away, people would be saying we were 'lucky' because of the weak calibre of opponents, not unlucky because we keep being drawn away. But when we are mostly getting PL clubs from the 3rd round onwards, pundits are ignoring the top flight calibre opponents and focusing solely on the home / away factor as deciding if it's a 'lucky' draw.

Before that mental 40 seconds, I was in full sweary rant mode at Sancho making an absolute tits of our best chance of the game.
Goes to show, you should be careful what you wish for - we might well have lost that game if Sanco had scored and they kept 11 on the pitch.

It's absolutely ridiculous at this point. Clear red as day, you literally couldn't make it any more clearer and yet ABUs pretend like it's some kind of an injustice and we've brought the refs. Yet whenever we get screwed like Casemiro's reds or the dreadful injuries our players have suffered this season with no fouls, let alone cards, not even a peep is heard from anyone. I'm sick of it.

And this is why refs won't give us anything unless it's 100% clear because it gets scrutinised so much when they do

Loving it. Nothing gets the plebs riled up more than United getting a (correct) decision.

Just listened to Radio 5 Live Football Daily rundown of the match. Holy feck. Absolutely insane how biased they are  :wenger:

We made these half decent ex players now pundits miserable for years, it’s not a surprise they can’t remain impartial on us.

The commentators couldn't sound more disappointed at our goals if they'd tried. Compare that to how Mitrovic's goal was called.

I was waiting for something like that from Talkshite presenter. It will be a topic on there today, to up there calls etc. Mitigation ffs Bent there incidents are completely different.
So why TRY to make a mountain out of a mole hill. And it's the mediocre football players that shout the loudest ..

Its Matterface who's on the biased Talkshite , and Dixon the gooner what more do you want, Jenas off The BBC is another cock

Darren Bent is a fecking idiot. The Bruno incident is so obviously different to the psychotic actions of Mitrovic.

You just need to look at reactions to see that hatered towards us. Amazing amount of people with no knowledge of reality. They have no shame. They have no integrity. Just jeaolusy that shows. Crazy.

These people are aware that the United fanbase is a large contingent so they say WUM-worthy stuff to stir up the hive. Talksport’s model is to rile up the masses by saying contrarian shit when even they probably don’t believe it and talk about the bigger clubs because their fanbases are larger and it’s more likely to get people calling in on a premium number and generate enough interactions to justify keeping them on the air.

If you swap out United for Forest from yesterdays game, the coverage would be solely on ‘Fulham had this crazy minute and Mitrovic is an idiot’.

But because it’s United, it’s that plus this public office level of scrutiny on everything we’ve done this season. Also this similar instance theyve found with Bruno gets scruntised because he’s not from the British Isles and therefore he is an evil, deceitful foreigner. It’s swept under the carpet and a blind eye is turned if it was Rashford. I don’t think this is a United exclusive thing and more of a big club thing. If you’re a non-British player playing for a major team then any missteps or infractions are going to be scruntised.

Has anyone got a clip of this Bruno incident? I think it happened after I'd switched off.

I can't link at the moment, but if you go to YouTube and type in "Bruno Fernandes pushes linesman" Dermot Gallagher explains why its not as big a deal as everyone wishes it to be!

Surely there is nobody worse than Souness, considering the platform he has

Genuine question

Has he ever sided with United on anything? Any penalty appeal, goal, red card, anything? Literally never known of it. Can anyone provide an example or video where he has??

I feel like if he was in the studio yesterday he would have defended Fulham and blamed United somehow. Weirdly, I remember him being more lenient on United when Fergie was here and United kept winning everything.

At final whistle yesterday I took out the dog and had BBC radio 606 on my headphones.

Within literally minutes, Chris Sutton had set his stall out and called for a 10 game ban for Bruno Fernandes based on the incident yesterday.

This man is so ABU obsessed he most likely had this all prepared for a day when another team got into an altercation with a ref. This is what we are dealing with in 80% of people involved with football, most likely including refs and a huge long-term obsession with fecking us over, built on decades of bitterness.

The phone in should have been about Mitrovic but ended being all about Bruno Fernandes.

And people question whether there is an ABU-led corruption in terms of on-pitch decision making and VAR

This is the narrative that drunk sounding Rob guy is pushing on Sky this morning. Trying to suggest to Dermot Gallagher that Fernandes has given other players carte Blanche to touch refs.

In fairness, Gallagher called it as rubbish.

Of course, Warnock and Smith both held the narrative. United are ending civilisation as we know it.

There it is. Thank you.

Yeah, it's hardly comparable. It's barely notable but I guess it was part of a larger Fernandes meltdown in that game.

This narrative is on the front page of the Daily Mail too. Such double standards compared to the crickets when we get normal calls against us.

Tells you all you need to know that after the Mitrovic incident yesterday the media are all desperate to talk about Bruno easing a linesman to the side as if there is some sort of comparison. It's madness.

This narrative that the handball and pen cost Fulham the game is ridiculous, if Willian hadnt have had his hand in the way Sancho's shot would have gone in to make it 1-1 and nobody can possibly know what would have happened after that.

My biggest gripe was the commentator trying to convince that Martinez wasn't great because of a game months ago against West Ham. There is the usual hatred, but for me, that went out of his way to bash someone who's been amazing cause he couldn't have people praise him, when he clearly doesn't even watch most of our games based on the discussion. Somehow Martinez is slow apparently

I stopped listening to Talksport the week of the build up to our game against Liverpool as I knew it would be Klopp, Klopp, Kloppity Klop all week, after the result there was not a cat in hells chance I would listen to it. I haven't since. Most of the presenters are average footballers at best and below average pundits. Only have time for Ally McCoist and Laura Woods.

And yes they get Bent on the Radio from home recovering from a Private PAID surgery on a floating bone in his foot. And yes he brings up Bruno as if its the same, in his opinion . Its Easy to talkshit then put its my opinion on the end to get away with a bollocks Narrative.

Well… an incorrect decision, I love them even more. The more controversial the better for me. Winds em right up. I live surrounded by Leeds fans and work with plenty. You should hear them when something goes Uniteds way. I embrace it now.

Its good that everyone is making a scene about United again. For too long we've been awful and the pundits have had a field day with how awful we have been. Now the good times are seemingly coming back and Manchester United will soon be having the Glazer shaped shackles taken off you can tell they are all scared as hell.

It would be interesting to see the response from some of these pundits if someone sent them that video showing Fabinho apparently shoving the ref during our game at Anfield earlier this season.

Not that I support the angle but I think that storylines are usually told from the perspective of the favorite, unless it’s a true Cinderella story and magic of the cup and all that.

Agreed. United are expected to play well and win. If they don't and are as bad as their opponents, people will say the other team played well and deserved it even if they were just as bad. How often have you heard "United were lucky to win" compared to "they were lucky to beat United"? Its almost always the first.

Was going to make a new thread but yeah. Agbonlahor is a funny guy.

He's got 6 Villa players in a combined 11.....

Don't think Van der vaart said anything incorrect or bias there. He's known for going in hard on players. Look up his criticism of Calvin Bassey. He doesn't hold back/ he's a bit of a d**k.

He's not an ABU though. He's just a shit pundit who is on talksport purely to say outlandish shit every day. Most PL fanbases have an issue with him, and pretty sure Villa fans don't like him anymore
