Aaron Wan-Bissaka | The Ornacle speaks: It is done.

I'm excited about this signing. I also believe he has more to offer offensively, since Palace had van Aanholt as their other fullback. van Aanholt seems more interested in attack than defending so it makes sense Wan-Bissaka was more reserved.

And this also frees up Ashley Young to become our starting winger again :wenger:

Please don't do this to me. I can't take it.

I really don't think money is an issue for us, with our streams of revenue we should still be able to spend without any headaches, although I do think we're becoming a bit sterner on what we're willing to spend and no longer want to be bent over backwards by other clubs which is fair enough because we've been fleeced in the post-SAF era so far.

This is just speculation on my part but I do feel that Mourinho lost the club's trust when it came to transfers. He was given free reign the previous summers but when his signings turned out more duds than successes then the board no longer felt they could trust his judgement, hence why Woodward went against his decision to sign a new center back. If his previous signings had all been great then I have no doubts we'd have coughed up the money Spurs were asking for Alderweireld.

You are more likely correct and that is fair enough based on previous mistakes. It's unfortunate that other teams know our weaknesses all too well, know we make a lot of money off the field and also know how important it is for us to be in the CL to appease said sponsors. We may have to pay stupid fees again, but as long as the right players are signed it doesn't bother me. I hope we don't just hit and hope with James, Longstaff etc type signings and then rely on Oles favourites Mata, Lingard and Rashford to lead the team forward. Keeping Pogba is essential and I really believe if we signed a top class CB and midfielder to play with him he would be far less eager to leave - same as De Gea. Pushing out Ashley Young is a great start though.

If Aaron Wan-Bissaka is your big signing this summer then I fear for your immediate future. If he's part of a summer that sees you spend over £100m and bring in one of Eriksen, Tielemans, or Fernandes, then I'll be less fearful. I suppose it's a matter of whether you need to sell Pogba first, though, or whether you can afford another £50m+ player without needing to get rid of him.

Why are you crying more than the bereaved? Let us worry about that.

My understanding is that we won't sell until we buy, sounds the wrong way up doesn't it?

But when Wan-Bissaka is finalized, we shall see if Darmian is given the shove...

I'm pleased as punch that we have Wan-Bissaka, I rate him highly, and this is definitely building for the future..

Hopefully for Darmians sake, seems a nice lad and not kicking up a fuss, I hope we don't price him out of a move away as his career is stagnating.
Yes AWB I am also very happy with. On to the next...

I'll be genuinely excited if this happens as we really need a complete overhaul of our right side as our attack was totally dependent on the left side for all creativity.

Get it across the line Ed!

Weren’t Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves signed with 24/48 hours of each other. That’s pretty impressive if you can only negotiate one transfer at a time!

Utterly ridiculous derailment of this thread. Quite frankly any poster that believes clubs, and in particular Man Utd only negotiate one deal at a time need to get some help.

And what a summer and year that was.

Generally speaking exactly the kind of signing we need to go for to make progress. We need a bunch of young, hungry and talented players who can still be developed and learn new systems and roles without complaining that they are not exactly used in their preferred positions and style.

That being said the price is a bit insane but I assume we have no choice in our current status.

Just watched a highlights vid and he could’ve literally booted the ball into his own face at one point and it still would look better than another season of Ashley Young at RB.

He’s good, but has a bird ever shat in his mouth? These are the real questions.

I've seen the price is 45m and with all the add-on's "could" rise to 50m. But, but, but didn't we get rejected for 55m? Some places are reporting north of 55m and a "world record" though.:rolleyes:

Delighted with this if true. A talented English player, that will know what it is to wear the shirt.

Hallelujah! Progress at last. And around the same time talk about Bruno Fernandes has started back up. I'm guessing that's the next priority.

Please don't do this to me. I can't take it.

Better than him being our starting RB in fairness :wenger:

AWB hopefully all wrapped up now. £45m + £5 add ons is good business for me. We've seen enough in him to think he can be a long term RB with us and if that's a 5 yr contract it's solid. Dalot then covers both full backs in terms of injuries.

Yeah, but pretty sure we'll play him on the right until we possibly get Sancho next year. I'd rather bench Mata and Lingard than Martial.
I'm not so sure Solskjaer is too happy with Martial, at least that's what a few reports were suggesting at the end of the season. He needs competition to stop him becoming complacent which he definitely was after he signed his new contract. I think we'll be targeting other wingers for the right and use James as rotation/competition for the left.

Get us flight trackers god damn it!!!!

I forget how much I enjoy player signings every year.

Happy with this long term signing. He's very quick and might surprise a lot of people if asked to get forward more often.

Why couldn't United afford that?
I'm not saying you couldn't. But last summer you spent a grand total of £50m on new players after spending £150m the previous two summers. That either means your outlay on Pogba and Lukaku has forced you to tighten the purse strings, or it means you have enough money stored for a significant spending spree this year. If you don't have to sell Pogba (or Lukaku for that matter) to generate the kind of funds necessary to buy someone like Fernandes or Eriksen then that's great, but if you do have to sell before you can buy again I think you'll be in a spot of bother considering not many teams can afford to buy the players you're looking to offload - not only that, but the teams that can afford to pay top dollar for Pogba and Lukaku probably don't want them anymore because of how far their stock has fallen in comparison to how much they'd cost.

Decent signing. Hope he develops the attacking bit about his game. Young enough and things that he is good at was quality last season.
