He's been excellent lately. It's good to see him improving.
Feck I care about 5 FBs that are better than him. He is a United player and I want him to be a top RB at this club.Alright so name 5 rightbacks who are better at defending space behind them

They are some of the most balanced modern fullbacks out there, some of the most consistent too. If they can have legendary performances like yesterday once in a while then their reputation will grow into 'top class' as quickly as it did with TAA. Agree with your assessment, I think Bissaka has a lot to go on in certain defensive aspects but you can't fault his professionalism. It doesn't matter who he plays against, he always gives his utmost. It's very important in fullbacks and I think we're seeing Shaw developing that mentality too.Point is he is a top fullback thats why you cant name 5 that are better than him at defending the space behind them. Its something most of the rightbacks that people mention as top fullbacks arent very strong at. Some of the weaker ones at some of the weaker teams who just sit back and defend might be better at it. But our fullbacks are great defensively when we just sit back too.
AWB is not a top FB...yet.What a cop out.

Was a weird one. Looks like he has played the ball to where Cavani was instead of where Cavani was going becuase Cavani when the camera got to him showed him making a run to go down the line making an easy offer for Bissaka. No idea what he was doing at the end. Gives the ball away needlessly.
It's not his fault we lost (before anyone rushes in to defend), but I just don't think he's a good defender. He's amazing 1v1, but put him in a back 4 and he doesn't know where he is or what he should be doing. Goes without saying that he's mostly useless going forward on top of that.
He's quite clearly not useless going forward. That's a lazy stereotype that is easy to disprove. However, there are also clear deficiencies to his defending but he's still relatively young for a defender so I fully expect him to improve.
That's because he has to cover for Lindelof's lack of pace. Second half the goals created came down that side from Bissaka not being able to stay wide to go forward but rather on the backfoot. First half when he tucked in they didn't get a sniff with the exception of one offside situations where he did get caught out. I think he'll be a lot more effective next to a defender that can hold his own. He is at his best when he can move on the front foot. Was a weird one. I generally thought he was pretty decent through out the game apart from a few lapse moments. The amount of times he seems to stay in and we get caught out is alarming. Always seems to be him. Ole said we don’t play offside but if you’re looking along the line and can see your not in line with everyone else then you need to get in. Seems to always be him.
He's clearly better than the old version of Valencia...already has probably as many g + a as any other full back in the league and he always creates at least one good opening for a striker per game. Today it was Cavani with the scuffed shot. He's about as useful going forward as Valencia was. Not very.
Brainless not passing cavani down the line cost us, small mistakes can add up. Keeps playing players onside.
Really like him as a player but needs to sharpen up.
I dunno bro, maybe you’re right. He will never sharpen up, he’s just a dopey player. Some players have great game intelligence, such as Scholes. AWB is the exact opposite. You’ve either got it or you haven’t.

No way, Valencia could atleast drive the ball forward. He's about as useful going forward as Valencia was. Not very.

I'd expect a player to learn how to hold an offside line in less than two years though. He's been here almost two full seasons and just tonight he alone played their players offside twice. If we're adamant on playing a high line then he has to understand that he can't keep staying behind his centre halves. He's quite clearly not useless going forward. Are you insane? In what world is he better than Valencia going forward? fecking batshit opinion. He's clearly better than the old version of Valencia...already has probably as many g + a as any other full back in the league and he always creates at least one good opening for a striker per game. Yeah I'd agree with his lapses defensively, especially after his focus has shifted into becoming a more well rounded fullback and making attacking runs more frequently. First half of his debut season I didn't see any of that really. I'm not too concerned about it though because of everything he has in his game. Same with Shaw, I'm fine with him making a few mistakes here and there as long as he is running his ass off and tries his best because then his quality will shine through eventually. It applies to AWB too.Yes I agree, however I do think he overcompensates and has a tendency to switch off, which is partly his own fault.
I got to say though and I've said this several times before but I absolutely loath the apathetic attitude he has when it comes to interplays/retaining possession at times. He treats the ball as a 'free hit' sometimes and it's infuriating because it's not that he doesn't have ability or technique but it's so lacksidal and momentum draining.
He's not the biggest of our issues but it's one of many things Ole/some coaching has got to address.
