I thought he was our best player today.
Last season he was one of our better players. I think he has had a troubled introduction to his second season, which has seen him have more bad games than last year but also showing he is steady improving his attacking play, even if it might have had a small negative effect on his defensive focus. I think for a 23 year old fullback he is already incredibly consistent looking over the course of almost two seasons, and while far from the finished article, he is very promising.I'd be very interested to know who you'd have him down as being better than out of Shaw, Maguire and Lindelof tbh.
His performances have been ok recently, much better than they were at any rate, and I think he's been one of our better players in the past couple of games, but I can't shake the feeling that this club is just a step beyond him.
Honestly the best I have seen him play since he joined us.
I can't understand how can anyone be happy with that performance. He made mistakes in defence, at least two unnecessary fouls, felt asleep once on corner, and passed a free ball to De Gea which almost went past him. But lets assume he was targeted by opposition and did fine defensively all thing considered.
It attack he is almost useless, like I said he made one decent cross - something I'd expect ANY fullback to be able to do on this level. And he was probably the player with highest number of touches. His passing was a bit off today as well.
He was bad until McTominay went off, then he was a bit better but a good performance it was not.
For sure he wasn't the worst, he just isn't a very good fullback and we're simply asking too much of him at this moment.
Agree. I’ve noticed some progress the last month and I see his potential more clearly. His speed and drive has impressed me and he is much more confident with the ball, also when it’s tight play. Hope his offensive progress continue. It probably includes playing with higher risk; play less safe and use his speed even more offensively. His crossings must be the easiest thing to improve. It only depends on focus and priority on the training groundA rare bright spot in the bleak landscape of recent performances has been Wan Bissaka, in my opinion. I've never been a huge fan (mostly due to how ineffectual he's been in attack), but in the past few games, he's looked solid at the back and more confident going forward. I still think we need to bring in a 'Telles' for his side to provide competition (and rest), but Wan Bissaka's progress is a very welcome development.
Yeah, I mentioned that in the match day thread. Serves him right for talking shit like that.Goal and assist. Southampton manager made comments on him too, looks like AWB got his revenge.

What did he say ?Yeah, it was disrespectful and AWB answered in the right way.
