A new golden generation for England?

I think you’ve lost your marbles maybe?

Just saying, your opinion is something that was widely held way back in 2001. Resulted in the appointments of Sven Goran Eriksen and Fabio Cappello.

Not all of them will come good. Lets check back in again in 4 years time.

Well you said check back in four years time, it is almost exactly 4 years since this thread and England are playing so it's interesting to see how many are actually in the squad!

None of the forwards listed have made it, though Saka is listed in the OP as a defender

Three out of six in midfield isn't bad and if you exclude Saka, only one out of five in the defenders, so five out of seventeen altogether have made it to the Euros four years later!

The his “generation” of England has won lots of trophies.

They should not have an English coach though, because a majority of them are suited to highly technical, quality play.

The Mainoo, Foden, Palmer, Bellingham, Rico Lewis, Colwill’s coming forward will propel England. The “kids” coming through, right now, have the potential to be elite. If you include the players from Trent and Reece’s age group …. Really something. Kane needs to make way though.

The next step is for people to associate England with Elite play, not just slugging out results.

Always been amused by England's 'golden generations'.

In 2010 Spain had a midfield trio of Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta

In 2002 Brazil had a front three of Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Ronaldo

This England team is good, and good teams not necessarily generational can win international tournaments - I dont think Italy in 2006 were a great team, nor Portugal who won the Euro's in 2016.

Its a very good team, but FFS this England team are not even favorites to beat Spain, of which isn't anywhere close to the quality of the Spanish team that won the Euros in 08, World Cup in 2010, Euros in 2012 - that team was a golden generation.

I feel you are conflating the term with performances. Yet it's about depth of personnel qualit. Its been fairly obvious since clique Foden won an under 17 world title England were producing a new golden generation of players. A construction not even done yet because more CBS and more Mainoo and Rice type midfielders have to come through for the depth to be total like the Beckham, Gerrard crew.
Besides, as Deschps showed with France. A golden generation can even win big ahead of schedule
