A chance to get back in the trophy winning business

It’s a huge chance to get this ‘6 years without…’ monkey off our back.

If we can get a healthy lead in the first leg vs Forest we can get the added benefit of resting players in the second leg.

Newcastle are a potential banana skin though.

Delighted with EtH so far and I hope this culminates with the Carabao cup in Feb.

We also have a fantastic chance at winning the FA Cup as well.

I get that you want to win every trophy available (and get revenge over Barca) but if we win our next few games then top 4 would already be secured and we can even push for a title challenge if we didn't have the hindrance of Thursday nights in between.
I don’t care about “getting revenge” on Barcelona, they’re a total irrelevance to me. The idea of being happy to go out of any cup is absolutely mental when you can, in fact, win it

It’s a great opportunity but not a gimme by any means. I’m sure City were expecting to breeze past Southampton but look how that turned out. One game at a time.

Arsenal and Man City will also have the same mid-week games issue, until they’re knocked out of course. We have a big enough squad to handle the games strategically. Throwing away the Europa League without giving a try would send a very wrong message to the team, not to mention a slap on the face of those who worked hard in group stage to get us here, plus the fans who paid thousands to watch us play (in Cyprus or Romania etc.)

I'm not getting too muppetty yet, we just need to get through the semi first, ideally put it to bed in the first leg. I would not like to be at 0-0 late in the second leg with JLingz returning from injury as a late sub for Forest, he has a worldie in him in these types of games.

This. I dont understand why so many people are getting Muppety about this. with our fixture schedule, the workload is going to be immense, we are playing 2 legged game against a PL opposition, nothing is guaranteed.

We should focus on taking it one game at a time.

If we win our next 3 league games I think we win the title tbh. We'd be right there with City and 6 points or less behind Arsenal. Problem is we need the other attackers to wake up as Rashford will run out of steam eventually.

Miss those good old days... we don't took this trophy seriously.

More than anything it’d just be sensational to be in a proper title battle as late as March, if ETH could manage that it’d be quite frankly outrageous.
A win at home to City, and Palace away & drawing against Arsenal would be enough to put us right in the mix.

The league cup would then be a massive confidence boost going into the final stages of the season.

I could not care less about the League Cup, to be honest. Trophy-wise for me it is EPL > Europa > FA cup > League Cup. Hopefully, next season the Europa will be replaced by the Champions league.

I enjoy any trophy but maybe that's just me

Would be funny to see Varane, Casemiro and Lisandro bellowing victory, League Cup held aloft.

Although I'm sure they understand what winning anything does for a squad and a club. Still, what a contrast it'd be.

Even at our best, people shitting on this trophy was absurd as it's always of value to players in the squad, even if some are used to bigger things, others are not and that first taste of success gives thirst for more of the same as well as acclimatisation to winning one-off, highly pressurised games with everything on the line.

No. He was out of his depth, can't believe we have given Ole 3 years. One of the biggest mistake we have ever done. He had conned us into believing he know what he was doing and requested 3 years to implement his philosophy. All he had was smiling, go out enjoy yourself, no training, no discipline and rely on individual brilliance.

Yeah, and he lasted 3 years at the biggest club in the league while going far in cups, and achieving 3rd and 2nd place finishes. He must be the luckiest person to have ever lived in the history of mankind.

Or...you just gotta be braindead to seriously believe this...

Agreed. This club has been trophyless for too long, and I bet the players are itching to win any kind of trophy themselves. I'd say let's go try for all four comps.
I won't worried about fatigue, some of the players whose countries aren't in the world cup already had a winter break. Only Varane and Martinez is playing up to the final. Even Varane has his break when he got injured before the World Cup, and now we know we have Shaw to deputize for Martinez if needed
