A caretaker manager

Why the feck would Wenger agree to be our caretaker manager

We're now at a stage where it would be beneficial for us to go the interim route, because it might open the possibility for players like Donny, Elanga, Hannibal, Amad, Sancho etc. Because currently Solskjaer is in self preservation mode which is not good for the club imo.

Agree with this, and it’s the big difference between my feelings about the manager going into the Liverpool game and now. At that point it wasn’t really clicking, but the hope was that it would start improving once Ronaldo, Sancho etc bed in.

Now, he’s completely abandoned it all to try and protect his job and we’ve end up with Bailly being selected over all of the attacking talent we have. At least the three at the back he played previously seemed to have a plan behind it. Shaw used to get forward in the back three, now it’s a flat five. There’s no coming back from this.

I just hope the club have been actively looking for a caretaker replacement over the last 2 weeks, as there’s no way we get a Poch or Ten Hag halfway through the season.

In no order of preference: Blanc, Bruce, Hughes or Rooney.

Last three are too big of United legends, we'd give them a 3 year contract after 10 games and another 3 years after getting top 4 with 400m in the market. No thanks.

We need a master tactician to compete with Klopp, Guardiola and Tuchel.

Simeone, Rodgers and Zidane are a good shout for the permanent role and should be approached ASAP.

No caretakers please.

Why would Rashford, Sancho and Martial have an issue with him? Genuinely asking.
They all have the same skin colour. Blanc made some "questionable" comments about certain players and hasn't worked since.

As caretaker I dont think they would mind. I do wonder why Blanc has not really managed much in the top leagues since PSG. He did a good job there.
Because of what he said about certain players. Hence why I mentioned these particular players.

Why the feck would Wenger agree to be our caretaker manager

And why the hell would we ask?

he was utterly shot away by the end of his Arsenal time, and it's been years since.

Decide...

Bruce
Rooney
Keane
Scholes

Get Brucie in and the bonus will be Ten Hag and VDS at the helm next season. I know you don't get anything for a pair...

Come on Brucie.
Rooney, Keane and Scholes, not to manage, to play. They'd run rings around our current bunch even in their 40s and 50s.

I'd love to see Keane and Scholes school Fred and McTominay for 15 minutes in midfield.

For all those saying Blanc he’s not currently unemployed just as an FYI, he’s managing
Al-Rayyan in Qatar so I doubt United would buy out his contract or if he’d be interested to leave his probably well paid job for a 6 month stint at an underperforming United,

The candidates are very slim in all honesty, I’d love Zidane for 6 months but really don’t see him again wanting a 6 month job, Favre might be a shout but doesn’t really fill me with confidence either,

The more I write this the more I realise Ole actually might be kept on until the end of the season, a smart move might be announcing he will be leaving end of season with Ten-Haag replacing and by some magic or sheer hope it might just give the players a kick up the Arse to at least not play like possessed idiots and try and give Ole the best possible ending to his United career

Fletcher warming the place for Southgate
This wouldn't surprise me at all.

What they will be looking for is another Ole, only one that's less hopeless. Southgate would be perfect from their point of view, though he might value the prospect of a knighthood from getting to another final over United's much bigger salary.

He allegedly wanted a 30% cap on black and Arab kids at academy level, which feed into the French national team.

Not necessarily a racism. France poaches players from other nations a lot. No African team ever managed to reach semi final meanwhile France won two World Cups using largely players who could have represented an african team instead.

He took over at Leipzig as manager and then appointed Hassenhuttl and became DOF. The same thing happening here would make sense if we aren't set on Ten Hag, Potter, Rodgers or another guy already and we want to move on from Ole and make this season about transitioning to a proper way to play and maybe get some young players some more time.

Why are you looking for a caretaker when we have a full time manager?

The owners are with him. They will back him.

Bring Hiddink out of retirement for half a year.

How are Amad, Elanga and Hannibal going to get games when the league is barely 11 games old and the team being at the top of champions league stage? They have more competition for the forward slots than ever with Ronaldo, Cavani, Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho, Martial and Lingard all in line for one of the 2/3 spots with Bruno and Pogba for the attacking midfield positions. Even Donny can barely get a kick these days.
Surely the whole point of replacing the manager is with a view to doing things differently. If the plan is just to keep on picking Ole's favouries we might as well keep him in post.

I agree about the "real" youngsters having few opportunities regardless of who's in charge. An experienced and well-connected interim might be able to organise some worthwhile loans though.

Ralf Rangnick? Really? Is that the answer? The guy has never won a league title or European trophy as a coach and we want to put him in the hot seat against Pep, Klopp and Tuchel.

We have to separate the 'being better than Ole' managers from the ones good enough to actually deliver the expectations the fans have surely? Otherwise surely it's just another few years wasted again?

Not overly inspired by that choice at all. Am I being too harsh there? Is he going to put the fear back into our domestic rivals?

You're in the 'caretaker' discussion thread. And he'd be a potentially excellent choice as caretaker.

I deliberately tried not to use that word so as not to cause issues on the site. He made some very questionable comments about certain players and hasn't worked since.

Even though he has Blanc privilege

I would have a caretaker for the rest of the season if it means getting Solskjaer out of the club.

Possibly. That's why I asked. He's currently a sporting director in Russia. Hardly a glowing endorsement is it?

Hardly think the creator of the gengenpress is what we need with Ronaldo either. That won't work with Ronnie.

He is English

It’s important for this new wave of English nationalism that there is inside the club

That's probably what would make him attainable as a caretaker. None of the top managers are going to want to join just as a caretaker.
