You forgot the, "CAN UNITED SCORE? THEY ALWAYS SCORE"

I always think it's a shame there's no good reaction shots of Fergie when the second goal went in. I've never seen any, anyway.

RE: The commentary, I always wondered what happened to Ron Atkinson just after the second goal. His last contribution was the line, eventually interrupted by Tyldesley was something like:

'I told you they only needed a minute to win it didn't I. And - (interruption)'

He was never heard from that night again. I wonder if he sulked or just upped and left after the whistle went.

I don't care how United win it as long as it isn't controversial.... I'll be losing my voice for United once again!

Haha, just before the corner that lead to our second goal, Big Ron comes out with "they must be playing defensive, Schmeichel's staying back for this one" or something.

As if telling your keeper to stay in his area in the 90th minute of a Champions League final is a defensive move.

feck me that night was just amazing...great memories.

I still remember the night so vividly, I was watching on my own but I've never made so much noise like I did celebrating that second goal...amazing and only 3 minutes before I was nearly blubbing....

Hold on...

Schmeical's last match for United...Van De Sar's last match for United...hmmm

sami kufour was broken in half, when i think back on his reaction i really feel sorry for the guy but whenever i see actual pics or vids of him i cant help but laugh hysterically.

a once in a lifetime moment, nothing will ever top it

Just watched this on YouTube. It will never get old. No matter how shit we get, and I think there's a few more levels, we'll always be able to say we lived through this moment.

Any hopes we'll do something similar against Olympiakos? We certainly need another special European night under the lights at OT! And at least, we've (nearly) done a Munich style comeback already this season against the mighty Fulham, but for Darren feckin' Bent.

edit: just realised this thread was made a few weeks prior to our exit in the CL courtesy of a drubbing at Wembley to Barcelona. Bad omen :(

When that first goal went in I've never seen a reaction like it before or since. Half the people in the boozer I was in ended up in a heap on the floor, tables, chairs, pints everywhere. When we all finally managed to get up, most of us thought we were watching a replay of the first corner when the second one was swung over. Amazing night to end the perfect season!

I managed to get to the Moscow final which was incredible, but I don't think anything will ever top 99, for me.

I was sat in a flat with my two scouse mates watching that, getting shit off them the whole way through, until Ole scored. The pair of them were jumping round as fecking mental as I was.
Best night of my football watching life, not sure I'll ever get the feeling I did that night again.
I love Ole, proper man love.

An amazing night, I doubt we will see anything as tense and dramatic again as united fans, but who knows.

Amazing footage, sends shivers without that timeless piece of commentary, I too remember Koufur beating the turf in utter defeat and frustration but that footage of the rest of the team just lay prone, completely exhausted by the flip in emotion kind of sums up those last amazing few minutes. Thinking back I was utterly soaked with alcohol but can remember those last few minutes vividly, I remember picking up a bloke about 20 stone and carrying him round, then jumping up and down celebrating the win with an Arsenal fan before finally sinking to my knees in utter jovial exhaustion. Took about 2 days for that to sink in.

Thanks for the memories :)

I love how there's a very brief moment of hesitation from some of the crowd after the second goal goes in. Sort of like "what the feck, that didn't just happen did it?"

I'm still convinced that the 99 CL final was cancelled for unknown reasons and all you're watching is cunningly crafted animation and video manipulation... :(

incredible memories and footage. but i have to say i couldnt watch all of the video right now. i turned it off after sheringhams goal. i just felt incredible frustration seeing the celebrations in light of what we currently see week in week out.

i know its a bit melodramatic, and you cant compare the emotions of a 90th minute champions league final to weekly games but my god that team had passion and an unshakeable self belief. it was absolutely incredible. you look at our players now and see them giving up after olympiakos scored first and wonder how weve fallen so far. (i dont want to turn this into a moyes vs the players to blame thread so happy to discuss that elsewhere.)

i hope we can get even close to that standard of squad again. an incredibly passionate and likeable bunch of players.

when you hear stories about how some of these players grew up and the challenges they faced whilst coming through the ranks, not sure if we'll see that sort of passion and self-belief again. Different times.

Still that moment will always send shivers down the spine. Just absolutely incredible. Still leaves me speechless. Can only shake my head in amazement.

Memories like this are what we all need to carry forward. When things dont go to well, like now. Dont bitch and moan. Remember what the club has done for you and how nights like Nou Camp 99 have shaped your persona. There cant be one United fan that doesn't draw determination from a memory such as that!

I'll never forget that night, until that season I didn't think if ever see us win it, I actually cried with joy when the second went in, it actually still puts a lump in my throat to watch it to this day.

Can utd score? THEY ALWAYS SCORE! = best line ever

The hairs still stand on the back of my neck when I see any footage of that night, seeing new footage just gave me goosebumps too.

Quite scary to think it was 15 years ago, time's flown.

Samuel Kuffor...

I honestly thougth he would go on a psychotic rampage after that night...

You forgot the, "CAN UNITED SCORE? THEY ALWAYS SCORE"

This is what always sticks with me..

Incidentally the group and the qualifiers against inter and juve were a savage route to the final. I'm not sure you could actually make up a more entertaining way of getting the trophy.

Juventus away has to be one the all time greatest performances by a united team in Europe! Anybody remember when Gary Neville was being interviewed directly after united qualified (think it was out of groups) and he said "did juventus make it through?". Juve were a beast of a team that we could never beat!!!

On a slightly different note I watched the 06-07 season review earlier.

What a brilliant domestic campaign that was.

The sense of euphoria and pride I felt that night I had never experienced before....and never have since. Genuinely. Screaming the house down with my mates, rolling about on the floor in a stupor, parading through my home town streets with the flag and the colours.....it was a feeling I will never forget. I never believed I could feel that way about football, but of course it was more than that, it was catharsis for the soul.

Moscow was amazing but I'd grown up a bit by then, it wasn't quite the same in more ways than one.

I did that too, haven't even thought of doing it since, it just happened. That night was incredible, it's a vivid blur if that makes sense?

Never done it since, and hadn't before....but it just felt so right. I know what you mean aswell, it was a blur, but as far as blurs go it was pretty extraordinary. My head was pulsating for the entire evening! I'm surprised it didn't pop off.

I remember not having any voice for about 2 weeks after it too. You could tell who was a United fan clearly in school the day after, we were the quiet ones with the big massive grin on our faces.

First night I had a beer too, I was 11 at the time.

There is a similar pitch-side view where the players are celebrating with the stand with the trophy lifting it one after another. I have been looking for it for a year now, anyone can find it?
