700 for our Nr. 7

Oh gosh, I did not know that - thank you, very interesting stuff. The documentary I saw was years ago and maybe I misremembered it.

Sorry Pele!

It is particularly interesting because I have often thought that most top-club sides would beat most top international sides in a decent friendly match (mainly because of the time they have training and playing together) but this would contradict that theory.

I doubt we will ever see such games though these days - no time in the calendar plus insurance issues. Things were different back in the day: I still remember Kevin Keegan falling off a racing bike on 'Superstars' imagine City letting Haaland do something like that (we can but dream!).

Sorry I misread and thought you said Santos, it was Santos who went around the world touring, his club team. Brazil didn't play any club sides (to my knowledge). You're right it would be an interesting match-up though!

Indeed, I did a quick google and it threw this up:

Apart from Ayelsbury vs England!!! it does confirm my theory - a decent club side is better than even top rated international team(s).

Ronaldo playing for United again reminds me of Ian Rush playing for Liverpool again.
