Ronaldo only started scoring 20 + goals in his 5th season Which is why he needs to score 40 goals a season to reach a tally of 700 goals. Haaland is doing better so far. But yeah long way to go!

While true I doubt many will care where those goals were scored when it's all said and done, the elusive number is all that matters.
Only thing I doubt with Haaland is that his body will let him play the required number of games. It’s as much luck as hard graft and sacrifice that Ronaldo and Messi’s did.
Yea that is true I was almost going to include that it would depend a lot on injuries and longevity. Ronaldo has always kept in exceptional shape and even now on his decline he is still insanely physically fit for his age

Congratulations to Cristiano. He is the greatest goalscorer in the history of the game and to reach 700 club goals is a ridiculous record that will be hard to beat, even more impressive since he has played many games as a wide attacker as well.
Why was no sort of big deal made when Messi hit that number a couple of weeks ago? he's on 702 now.
Because Ronaldo obviously has ALOT of fanboys here given he plays for United (even when he did not play for United, the fanboys were loyal to him and celebrated his achievements).
Also because Ronaldo's game is defined by goals. Messi is much much more than goals.
