5 reasons to be positive next season

Not so positive yet. Need to see how the window goes to get me a little excited. The real positive will be if the team performs under ETH and not throw him under the bus too.

Also new tiles in the pool is a positive.

Can't be that positive going into next season with this team, even with ETA coming in because none of us know what's really going to be happening, especially with this sort of mantra of let us see what they can do under ETA. I honestly can't see them trying anything for him.

Low expectations or CL qualification. These do not seem to match up.

I don't think we'll finish top 6 without some really good signings. We lost 3 of our highest quality players. Sure, they were shit last year, but so was everyone else. Some of those have never not been shit.

1. New exciting coach in Ten Hag, potentially the best post Fergie
2. Lots of deadwood and toxicity being cleared out
3. FA youth cup win at the end of the season, hope for the future
4. Woodward gone, hopefully a more sensible approach to running a football club
5. We massively underperformed last season by anyone's measure and still finished 6th. Given any sort of pick up we will be pushing top 4 and Europa League. Extra points extra wins this season and a bit of fight on show. Bring on September. UTFR!!

Five subs and a few exits means we may well see more minutes for youngsters. Maybe 1 or 2 can seize that opportunity and become our next academy graduate star.

I have zero expectations for next season.

ETH is here to bring us back to the top in long term, whether it will take 3, 5, 8, 10 years, so be it. As long as we didn’t end up in lower half of the table, I’ll be fine.

Truth is, with Pogba, Matic, Cavani gone and Greenwood not going too play, we will have weaker squad next season. Without CL football, I doubt we could bring some one as good this term to replace the outgoings, let alone improvements.

we will be a surprise package next season and storm up the league to 5th, leaving the likes of arsenal and everton trailing in our wake. the estimated time of hurt (eth) for those clubs is august 6th

Martial (like a new signing )
Pereira ( like a new signing )
Garner ( like a new signing )
Mejbri (like a new signing )
VDB (like a new signing )

1. New coach, this time last year we had Solskjaer. Massive step-up in quality there.

2. Pogba and his circus have moved on.

3. 22/23 - ?
12/13 - Champions
02/03 - Champions
92/93 - Champions
82/83 - FA Cup
62/63 - FA Cup

That's all I've got. A lot will depend on transfers.

The main reason to be positive is that we have much better players than our showing last season suggests. If we can just get a manager who has a happy camp like Ole managed for a while, we will finish high in the league. Hopefully ETH can bring that and much more.

According to a lot of ten hags former players, he’s a very likeable guy and has good man management. He’ll also like you said bring a lot more which include a clear style of play, better tactics. A good temperament, he won’t be afraid to drop or get rid of any of the players if they don’t buy into his plans and methods. I think the players will actually be happy under ten Hag as they’ll be Gettin taught proper football and what player doesn’t enjoy playing attacking football.

1. Ten Hag. First progressive hands on coach we have hired who is at CL standard and wasn't half retired.
2. Standards and accountability look like they're returning to the club after a long hiatus
3. John 'The Wirral Bulldog' Murtough
4. LVG-Jose-Ole-Ragnick football has been so atrociously anaesthetic I'm confident we'll at least see some better football

What could possibly go wrong?

Do you know how to get slapped backwards with the answer to that question? By asking it! May soccer football's highest deities have mercy on your soul...

That said, Ten Hag is the sole reason for optimism. If nothing else, the reputation he has for appropriately communicating his ideas to his players gives me hope for the coming season.

I didn’t atcually read any positives in the OP post.

1&2, We are still expected toqualify for the CL, right now after how well we performed last season thats high expectations.

3,The shortened summer and disjointed season is a massive issue for us, what this team desperately needs is a long LONG time on the training ground working on tactics and fitness. We are gonna struggle to get that over the next 2 seasons.

4, firstly we don’t no Ten Hag is going to do that, even if he does that’s gonna have disruption on the team Yen Hag training one team for mid week and traveling with them and then another team for the premier league? The first team is at Gonna travel ? So what they will have the reserve coaches training them then the they are traveling for Europa games? Not sure this is a win. If we wernt in Europe all togther you may have a point but I didn’t see being in the Europa as a positive.

5, Yeah we will likely buy some players, but that’s never been the problem in the post Fergie era, we have the largest net spend in the premier league, they need to be the right players that can fit togther. We have so far seen zero evidence the hierarchy at the club is capable of that.

Personally I don’t really see an positives until we start to see that Murtough Arnold have some semblance of what they are doing. Until we know they are more than just 2 individuals who got there position because they are good at exploiting the internal politics of the club, it’s hard to be positive

1.ETH.
2. Can't get any worse.
3. No JLings and Pogboom circus.

There is absolutely no reason to be positive without new players coming through the door. Management have already made a mess of the new season because yet again we are less than 2 weeks away from pre-season and don’t have the new players in. What’s the point of bringing in 3 players when the season has already started? By the time they get fit and implemented into the squad it will be the World Cup and gone December. This has been a major flaw with all our transfer activity in recent years. It needs to be started 6/8 weeks earlier.

1. The promise of playing exciting football.
2. Potential new arrivals.
3. It can't get any worse than last season.

You must be fun at parties:lol::lol::lol:

Some clowns like Pogba and Lingard have left the club. That's a massive positive on its own for me.

While I do think ETH was a solid choice, I don't have any massive expectations this time around. Good possibility that he's an elite coach, but also possible that he could fail to step up.

The lack of expectations is definitely true OP. Hard to be disappointed when you don't have a lot of expectations to begin with, and are coming off of the worst period of football last season.

1. We have a serious manager that is on an upward curve. The rest of the managers we brought in weren't good enough or were finished.

There are no other positives.

Nothing is done yet to feel positive about other than an exciting manager to manage the failed group barring few worst players whose contract was up.

1. Ten Hag
2. Toxic players being removed from the squad (thanks for the reminder today Pogba)
3. Underperforming players doesn't mean they're bad, it means they're underperforming
4. The transfer window situation is no where near as bad as people are making out. Yet.
5. Stability for the first time in eight months. Maybe even longer.

Lingard and Pogba off, so the maturity levels have greatly increased.
Woodward off.
We've got a bona fide coaching manager.
Think ETH will establish a meritocracy - youngsters will have a chance.

I'm confident ETH is the right one, I've been a bit on the fence with the others . Jose I wasn't fussed new he'd make it all about him. Lvg I liked his style but no substance. Ole was always out of his depth but gave him a go, he had to leave. ETH imo has to be backed and a coherent playing style will bear fruit how long it takes depends.

1. First new manager we've had since Fergie who is clearly on the up
2.Released a lot of players we've moaned about for years for different reasons
3. We do have a lot of quality in our squad, they just had a ridiculous malaise last year
4. Blind optimism you get every new season
5. Having no games doesn't half leave a void!

This is hard to be honest.

1 new manager
2 Sancho and Varane improving in second year and showing value.
3 Maguire, Lindelöf, Shaw, Bruno, Rashford getting back into better form.
4 still time to get new players
5 Haaland may still flop

1. Ten Hag (and no more of Ralf)
2. Bruno and Rash back to their best
3. Sancho and Varane to step it up after mixed first season
4. 2-3 of our youth make a mark (Amad, Garner, Mejbri, Elanga, Garnacho)
5. Summer signings - DM, Frankie. We have a MF.

Know 2-5 are hopes rather than certainties

I'm positive - positive that unless we get some transfers down in the next couple of weeks there's as much chance of Forest finishing in the top four as us

1. Mane has left
2. Nunez May flop
3. Salah will leave for free
4. Midfield is aging
5. Diaz will be sussed out

I’m delighted we’ve got ten Hag, but it’s Richard Arnold who’s the real difference maker as far as I’m concerned. He needs to get the Glazers fully on board; a decent start to the season should give them the confidence to take a step back and let the new team do what’s needed to rebuild the club.
The mistake that the Glazers made was Ed Woodward. He signed the wrong managers and everything flowed from there. They have never been accused of meddling in the football side of things.

Hopefully Ten Hag is the right choice and gets the time to sort things out.

Erik ten hag
Frenkie de Jong
Jlingz, Pogba gone
Woodward gone
No Bissouma (approved by golden blunder)

Well there were reports that they adored Martial and stepped in to prevent his sale.

Also there have been many reports in recent times that all decisions have to be run past and approved by them; certainly any that involve putting hands in pockets. I don’t think this was the case in Woodward’s early days though; they pretty much let him get on with it and only started getting involved after he’d pissed away hundreds of millions on duds who brought us no success.

Some early wins for Arnold will with any luck give the Glazers the confidence to take a back seat again.

Not sure about five reasons, but I have a general overview.

We appear to have someone who is meticulous when it comes to coaching. He’s often been described as a workaholic and an obsessive who’s very much in the Pep mould. That by itself will be a welcome change considering this team has been under-coached for years.

As a result, I would like to think that some of the players who performed so badly last season should improve under this coach. The fact of the matter is, they’re gonna have to, because we’re simply not going to replace half the squad with new players. I would assume players like Maguire, Rashford, Fred, McTominay and even AWB will still get significant game time. Maybe not as much as last season (hopefully) but they’re going to be around so we might as well get used to that reality.

Also, this is the most exciting appointment we’ve made in some time. A lot of that excitement stems from the fact that there’s a bit of mystery about him. Obviously, the guy has worked in football for many years, but I would venture to guess that this will be the first time that many people would have properly seen him. So he’s new, which is always exciting. Add that to the aforementioned meticulous working conditions he operates under, and you have reasons to feel excited.
