5 positions and the realistic 5 players to fill them ?

this is true. its very possible that ilkay will leave us.

i only mention that is realy unlikly that he will go to united.
he will only leave if it is a step up, and thats not the case with this current united. its not that top-side anymore, its even open if united will be in the cl..the coach thing is still unsolved. in this squad he would be by far the best player. the whole squad-building of the last years was totaly stupid and leaves a mess which has to sort out.
there are just better clubs who would fit to him and his skills. clubs which are better in everything than the current united.

"much stranger things have happend" this phrase i got in my mind for the possibility he extends his contract ;-)
and btw: this year our chances of winning the bundesliga is less, but there are more throphies to go for. plus: next year pep will be away, new situation..

He might find joining United very exciting if we manage to sign one or two world class players this summer.

thats the point: singing and spending is not all at a club, especialy if there is no concept around.
and some OT (for your managers): if you sign mourinho, it wont be better. this guy is not interested in building a squad based on a concept which could proof also in the future. also for united it would be better if this -until now missing-concept has to include the youth, something mourinho doesn't care about.

Don't want us to spend like crazy or bring in too many, but I'd give my left hand for Mahrez. He'd be one of those thoughtful signings with a bit of sense to it: he's Mata with pace and strength, or Lingard with flair and star quality. There's a very obvious role in the side for him, and he could fit very nicely into Van-Gaal-ball if necessary whilst also being demonstrably suitable for a more direct approach if LVG changes his ways or someone else comes in.

Basically the opposite of just blindly buying Gareth fecking Bale.

CB. Even I would like Laporte, Hummels or Marquinhos. I think we will try to sign Stones, if he signs for City or Chelsea, then Koulabaly would be our choice because it seems we tried to sign him in January.

CM. Gundogan is definitely our favorite player (Verrati/Pogba are unrealistic). But I have the feeling that he will go to City with Pep or even to Juventus if they sell Pogba. So I think we will sign Renato Sanches who can cover Herrera.

RW. A lot of teams in Europe will try to sign Mahrez. But most of them have the right wing covered so he wouldn't be their priority. I think it's between City and us. If they play Champions League and Pep wants him. Sane should be our plan B. I can see Moura staying at PSG. If we don't sign Mahrez/Sane, we could end up signing the likes of Mane or Felipe Anderson.

ST. Griezmann would be my choice, he can play in all the attack positions. However, he just mentioned that he wants to continue in Atletico. If Mourinho is our next manager, he could go for a target striker, someone experienced. I think that player could be Cavani. Not my favorite player but I think Kane will stay next season at Spurs. There are other options like Higuain, Icardi, Lukaku, Ibrahimovic. So it's going to be interesting who will join us.

No.10. This position depends on Mata's future. If Mou sells him. He could sign Barkley who is the type of player he likes. He could be his new Lampard. If we sign Griezmann he can cover that position.

CB - stones or laporte
CM - if we play 4-3-3 I'd like to bring pogba back. If we stick with 4-2-3-1 I'd like the kid from Porto - Neves is it? I'd love to see Pereira given a chance at number 10 but I have a sneaking suspicion Real's ban will be lifted and Rodriguez will become available to fund a new galactico (hopefully not DDG)
RW - probably the most difficult hole to fill. Dybala, Sane, or Mahrez. I can't see Reus being sold.
ST - we won't be getting Lukaku if we buy stones, also I can't see Tottenham selling Kane now. He's most likely a future Real Madrid purchase. That leaves aubemeyuang (sp). Last alternative i honestly wouldn't mind ibra on a free!

We may also need a GK should the above mentioned ban get lifted

Laporte / Stones
Gundogan
Bale
Greizmann
Kane

#Muppet

DDG / Romero
Shaw / CBJ
Smalling / Blind
Laporte / Fosu-Mensah
Darmian / Varela
Gundogan / Herrera
Schneiderlin / Schweinsteiger
Greizmann / Lingard / Januzaj
Bale / Mata / Pereira
Martial / Memphis
Kane / Rooney / Rashford

Most of the players we want for the summer could sign for another top club or stay in their club.
So we need a plan B and plan C. I don't mention Varane, Pogba, Verrati, Bale, Neymar, Dybala, Lewandowski,... because they are unrealistic.

List of Top 3 possible targets by position:

Center Back
  1. Laporte
  2. Stones
  3. Marquinhos
Midfielder
  1. Gundogan
  2. Pjanic
  3. Sanches
Right Winger
  1. Mahrez
  2. Sane
  3. Moura
No.10
  1. Griezmann
  2. Barkley
  3. Mane
Striker
  1. Kane
  2. Lukaku
  3. Ibrahimovic

What changes would you make to the list?

In - 122M
Koke - 45M
Mahrez - 35M
Stones - 42M

Out - 58M
Rooney - 10M
Fellaini - 15M
Valencia - 5M
Young - 7M
Jones - 11M

Team:

--------Martial-------- (Rashford, Wilson)
Memphis------Mahrez (Lingard, Januzaj, Mata)
---Herrera--Koke----- (Mata, Schweinsteiger, Pereira)
------Schneiderlin---- (Blind, Carrick, Schweinsteiger)
Shaw-----------Varela (Darmian, Rojo, CBJ)
---Stones-Smalling-- (Blind, Fosu-Mensah, Carrick, Rojo)
-------De Gea--------- (Romero)

25 man squad and I basically sort of trust everyone in those positions, or at least think they have potential. Mata, Blind and Rojo probably end up playing starters minutes since they are solid, versatile pros and we'll have injuries. One of the youngsters too. Looks like Rashford at the moment but I wouldn't rule out any of the others. Could also sign a veteran forward/winger and natural CB if depth or relying on only youth for backup strikers is seen as too risky.

All I think we need is an established striker (would absolutely love Kane), a goal scoring midfielder and a center half. We won't need a right winger if Memphis continues to show his worth, unless it's a young backup or high caliber player like Bale, although to be honest I'd love us to take Mahrez. Think we've got enough strength in depth in a lot of positions in terms of youth so I reckon we're sorted for the most part.

Big fan of British players so Kane, Alli/Barkley and Stones would be a dream for me. Don't know much about many European players.

Memphis isn't a RW though, he's awful on that side, he can only play from the left as a wide forward cutting in.

I'd like to try Payet from the right. He's right footed and very good crosser. If you give him a bit of license to come inside, he'll be a threat from both the wings and the middle. Quality player.

Marquinhos, Stones or Dragovic

Andy Robertson

Rafa Silva (Apparently deal already done)

Mane

Lukaku

It seems that Real Madrid will try to sign Pogba, Hazard and Lewandowski. So a player like Isco or James could be available. Another option is that Bayern coild sell Gotze.
If we could buy one of them... Who would you choose?

Griezmann and/or Dybala would be my Muppet signing in

Mahrez and Stones will both go for comfortably above £50m.

It's 2016.

Now that Kane has shown the doubters (many on here btw) that he wasn't a one season wonder, I would happily take him as our striker. That said he's still got a long contract at, notoriously difficult to negotiate with, Spurs and he does seem to have a sense of loyalty to the club. Lukaku would be a solid second choice for me after Kane. I wouldn't be against bringing Ibrahimovic in for a year or two if Rooney leaves to make room.

Mahrez is looking like a player that would really add something to our line-up so I'd love us to go after him as a priority. Pace, trickery, assists and goals. What more could we want?

Griezmann - He's the young winger - come striker - come 'number 10' that could operate fantastically in an interchangeable forward line alongside the likes of Martial, a rejuvenated Memphis and Mahrez. He should be got if there's any chance. I think some of the other big clubs are going to be going for him though. Can see him ending up at City or Chelsea while we stand by metaphorically scratching our plums and messing about trying to sweet talk no hope signings like Neymar.

Of the above possibilities Mahrez should prove to be the most signable. That said I don't think any of them would be that unrealistic should we pull our finger out.

My main worry is that we'll mess about with the managerial situation until after the Euros, leaving whoever ends up in in charge to be scrambling around in the sale items bin like when we got Fellaini.

Four is the magic number for us this summer IMO but if we opted for 5 I'd go with this;

RB - Cancelo
CB - Koulibaly
CM - Gundogan
RWF - Mahrez
CF - Ibra

I have seen Koulibaly recently and sometimes I think he could be a better option than Stones (who is not playing very well at the moment). Also, he would be cheaper.

If Mourinho is going to be our next manager, I can see him going for Stones. But if he plays Rojo as LB, moves Blind to the CM position and sells Jones (injury prone). We could also sign Koulibaly because it seems that we were interested I'm January.

Cancelo is a good option. However, I prefer Aurier. I think the RB position is not a priority for now (Darmian/Valencia/Varela). Let's see if Darmian improves his game under a new manager and his 2nd season.

I totally agree with Gundogan and Mahrez. I just hope that Guardiola doesn't try to sign them.

Ibra is definitely a good opportunity. He is a world class striker. Besides his age, he is in a good form now and that's what we need. Also it could be a good experience for our young strikers.

I would change in your list the RB for an attacking player. That player could be difficult to sign but not impossible... I'm talking about Griezmann who could replace an important player like Rooney or Mata in our team.

What's people's thoughts on Oxlsde Chamberlain since Arsenal apparently want rid?

I'd take him.

I'd take him.

Hate him and I'm not even an Arsenal fan, he simply has no football brain. Has shown no sign of development in 5 seasons at Arsenal and made of glass. He's just physically developed and occasionally has bursts of speed but he lacks the basic knowledge of when to shoot and when to pass. People used to shit on Memphis but he's a much more frustrating version of him that cannot cross, shoot and has a poor workrate. There's a reason Wenger opts for Ramsey who has nowhere near the same physical qualities as him for RW or Joel who's pretty meh but much better than him in terms of his end product.

It doesn't seem like much of a goer to me. Even if Arsenal were willing to sell, it'd probably be an indication of his ability (or lack of) considering Wenger blocked a move for Debuchy in January because he didn't want to strengthen a rival.

As for no 10, we could easily give chance to Pereira who has all skillset to play in that position and can develop as quickly as Barkley if given a chance, apart that we have Januzaj who will also be best as no10 in the future, good preseason with good coach and one of them will take the chance, Herrera is also decent option in functional team as no10 or false 10 in 4-3-3, Its LIngards best position as well anbd we are not counting that fat fecker who is our captain, we are stacked with no10, no need to invest there.

I agree with the rest, Griezman would be a great choice to cover wings and ST, although I wouldnt mind Kane, in case we got him we dont need Mahrez who might be a bit risk, although would cost us insane money if he's even gettable, so Martial, rasher, Griezzman would be good enough for the striekrs role, with Rooney as backup if we dont ship him out, unfortunately it will take some time..

In addition to CM, I would really like André Gomez as he would add something else or that Sanchez fella hopefully he's the new Martial and no Willy Carvalho if the reports are true and we get him..
although I wouldnt mind to cover that position with TFM who is world class talent, Schneiderlin and Herrera will easily step up in more fluid and aggressive system so hopefully we will get the right coach.. I would also add Xhaka to the list if we are to enquire about any gettable CM..

On another sidenote I would love Barkley and Alli, the first one might not be happy after this season but could be overkill but as Fergie said there is always place for quality player..

We should look at the players who could possibly fix problems at more than one position but with the quality of Martial not Blind

my choice as well, Pochettino would make him great rightback

According to german media, Pep met Beguiristain these days in Amsterdam to discuss the squad. Ilkay Gündogans uncle, who acts as his agent, was seen at the sme hotel.

United missed the window of opportunity to sign Gündogan last summer when Woodward wasn't willing to pay BVB's asking price of round about €20m.

Next season I would play 4-3-3. So, we need 4 new players for the 1st team (CB, CM, RW/SS, ST) and a young midfielder because Carrick could be released, Fellaini sold and Schweinsteiger is not getting any younger.
  1. Defender to play with Smalling: Laporte, Koulibaly, Marquinhos, Stones
  2. Young CM with potential: Bazoer, Neves, Sanches, Tielemans
  3. Creative midfielder: Barkley, Gundogan, Isco, Pjanic
  4. Attacking player for the front of 3 (right side): Dybala, Griezmann, Mahrez, Sane
  5. Top striker: Aubameyang, Ibrahimovic, Kane, Lukaku

Which player (for position) do you think we will sign?

We need two central defenders as far as I'm concerned. Smalling is too useless on the ball.

One of Lukaku/Griezmann/Aubameyang
Mahrez
Nainggolan
Kroos/Gundogan
Stones/Marquinhos
Butland/Karius/Horn if DDG leaves

If we manage to ship out Rooney, then Zlatan on a free too.
And Get rid of Fellaini and Carrick as well.

Stones - obvious reasons; young, quality on the ball, improving, keeps an English core.
Sanches or another relatively young midfield talent, we don't need a starter there IMO.
Aubameyang/Griezmann would be my muppet dream signing provided LVG does one (if he stays they'd be pointless).
Kane - if not then would genuinely go for Zlatan on a free.

CB- Laporte
RW-Mahrez
CM- Kovacic/Barkley
ST- Icardi
CM/CAM- Isco

Would be over the moon with any of these. I think Ibra could be a fantastic signing for us.
