2Pac vs Biggy

Tupac aint dead, I saw him helpin' bitches with their shopping

Tupac ain't dead he's chillin with Chuck Norris, MJ and Elvis in Cuba.

Seriously though, it has to be 2Pac. Even though you'll get the Raptards soon saying, "He wasn't technically brilliant, his lyrics we'ren't about the multi's blah blah." it's just crazy-talk. Music isn't a sport, it's about emotion...You could criticize Dylan for his singing, but you'd be a tard because it's not actually about his singing. Just like 'Pac wasn't about being just a rapper, he was an artist - socially aware, flawed but as far as a rappers go - real. Biggie had some great tunes, but 'Pac buried him.

Literally

"Now ever since my birth, I've been cursed, since I was born to wild - Incase I never get to holla at my Unborn child, Many things learned in Prison, blessed tostill living' got earn every Penny that I'm gettin'"

Never really liked any of 2Pac's music but for a few standout tracks. Definitely have to vote for Biggie here.

No, this isn't a democracy...Tupac has already won...so feck off.

I gotta go with Tupac on this one. Biggie had the better flow but Tupac had the better songs, he spoke from his soul.

"I see mothers in black cryin, brothers in packs dyin
Plus everybody's high, too doped up to ask why
Watchin our own downfall, witness the end
It's like we don't believe in God cause we livin in sin
I asked my homie on the block why he strapped, he laughed
Pointed his pistol as the cop car passed and blast
It's just another murder, nobody mourns no more
My tear drops gettin bigger but can't figure what I'm cryin for
Is it the miniature caskets, little babies
Victims of a stray, from drug dealers gone crazy
Maybe it's just the drugs, visions of how the block was
Crack came and it was strange how it rocked us
Perhaps the underlyin fact stay high explain genocide
It's when we ride on our own kind
What is it we all fear, reflections in the mirror
We can't escape fate, the end is gettin nearer"

I'm disappointed in you. :(

I liked 2pacalypse, though - all his subsequent stuff was a bit watered down. Oh and I don't think he was particularly good at writing nor did I think his rap style was all that good. I used to think a lot worse of Biggie till I actually heard him freestyle.

He never watered it down and he wrote from the heart.

Putting aside the other aspects of the music, Biggie was a much better rapper. As an artist, Tupac was not that talented IMO. He was very prolific, and his lyrics were a bit better than the average rapper, but as a rapper he was not even top 10, whereas Biggie is definitely top 3.

I think you have to judge them on that, really, as the other stuff is done by other people.

Pac touched on real subjects though, racism, oppression, love etc dude had it all. Pac used to rhyme more syllables than Biggy but Biggy had a better flow.

Agree with this, and also Tupac is always acting.

If I'd had the chance to meet him, I wouldn't have mentioned this, in case he decided to take on the role of an angry psychopath with a gun.

I'm going to have to ask you to leave.

It's true though. It's like asking who's the better football team, Aston Villa or Tottenham Hotspur? Who gives a toss. They're both mid table.

For what it's worth I hold Biggie in higher regard simply because 'Ready To Die' is an absolute classic and has stood the test of time. I was well into Pac in the early 90's but barely listen to him any more. He was a better actor than he was a rapper.

I agree. His writing was awful at times. . .and his delivery and rap style wasn't all that great. I think image made the man. Going to prison and subsequently selling zillions of copies of Me Against the World and All Eyez on Me created a rap legend. But he had good producers behind those two albums - both were very radio/mainstream orientated. There's a track called 'Last Wordz' on his 2pacaplyse album - basically Ice Cube and Ice T rap on it along with him. . .and he sounds out of his depth.
