2024 U.S. Elections | Trump wins

He can't win 2024. Probably the most important election the US has had to date. The US needs greater safeguards against lunatic fascists like Trump being able to make so many changes if elected POTUS.
I feel that it's the most important in modern times.

@Carolina Red Has there been a more important election in US History than the one coming in 2024?

Like going to a Vegetarian celebration looking for baby back ribs. It shows you the power of tribalism in US politics. This lady won't budge from her party loyalty despite it working against her better judgement. It also shows you that Maga Republicans want the very things they mock Democrats for trying to achieve. I'm sure she feels she's specifically entitled to it, which is why Fascism works a treat on her. Clowns.

Thought about those, especally 1932 (my history degree was modern US history-heavy, so I defo have a bias).

It could also be argued that some of those post-Civil War elections were extremely important, and it actually went the wrong way with the abandonment of Reconstruction. Just goes to show you don't always win the "most important" elections.

In another post, she equates Trump as being another son of god, that if he is sent to prison it would be akin to jesus dying for their sins, & that Trump will be reborn (don't know if that is being released from prison, escaping prison, or coming back to life once the body is outside the prison walls).

For some reason I didn't post it, should have. This person is special.

Very true.

Sure Jesus himself could show up and tell her not to follow Trump and she'd find some way of continuing her involvement in the fascist cult. These people only see what they want to see. There is a huge shared psychosis going on.

The level of MAGA brainwashing on display. These people are fully hypnotized by Trump's "I alone can fix it" narrative.

Think I might have mentioned it before on here, but I remember seeing an interview with a guy and his wife back when Trump was running in 2016 on the promise of ending Obamacare.

The guy in question suffered from black lung after working in a mine (I think) and was depending on Obamacare to be able to pay for all the medicine he had to take to stay alive. And yet both he and his wife were determined to vote Trump. I was only starting to to get interested in American politics back then and remember being dumbfounded.

I have seen clips of Trump supporters saying how much they love the Affordable Care Act, yet want to abolish Obamacare!

That's because they are so stupid they don't understand that they are the same thing

Feels like every election is the most important in history lately. That's because winning has become more important than having good candidates/presidents/policies. And that's how we are scrapping at the bottom of the barrel.

It's a difficult situation for the Dems as if the GOP is running a race to the bottom, not following them has the risks of making everything even worse. But overall it has resulted in a net loss for the public.

Affordable Care Act is the good one, given to patriot capitalist Christian Republicans.

Obamacare is the communist policy given to Satan-worshipping LGBT Democrat illegal immigrants.

And you said the same in 2020, and you will say the same in 2028. And we can remember the discussion of the third party on the importance of elections and "now is not the moment"

Not healthcare for all. Healthcare for her. She’s special and deserves it, unlike those freeloading liberal socialist fascist democrats.

True that. And sure Trump will take pity on her...his golden heart

Socialism for me, but not for thee.
My mom, going full Boomer, posted a status to her Facebook account the other day talking about how Social Security and Medicare "are not entitlements! They've been paid for by our tax dollars!"

She was wholeheartedly against Medicare for All.

Uhhh... mom... I have some news for you

And this is exactly the point I've been making on here and Twitter for years. Sadly, due to poor education, conspiracy theories, lies spread by politicians and the media, people do not understand the definition of the words they frequently use as insults or attacks on others.

They also don't understand what they are voting for unless it's single issues like abortion. The American way and land of the free has so often been thrown around coupled with working hard for YOURSELF! It's anti American to seek help or have a government look after you, except when it suits them. All this despite the US military, Police Force, Fire Service etc......

It's so often said that America is the only place people can come from poverty and make something of themselves and enjoy true freedom. It's just brainwashing and poor education with ignorant and scared or desperate people. The hypocrisy runs deep as much as those who don't want government controlling their lives yet want abortion to be made illegal and books banned from schools etc.

The Republicans and right wing parties throughout the world feed off this and continue to stoke the fear. Whereas most liberal or left parties are seen as evil just because they want fairness and equality.

The combination or selfishness, fear and ignorance just makes all this hypocrisy possible. The sad truth is, we should have evolved past this by now, but if anything it's getting worse.

Similar situation in my fam. Some are on a government retirement, which they distinguish as not socialism because "we've earned it through a career of work".

We’ve never been as close to harming our democracy as we have been in the past two election cycle; it will be chaos for democracy in 2025 if Trump is elected for his second term, thus making the upcoming election far more important vis à vis saving it.

Biden v. anyone other repub in 2024 would not warrant such a moniker.

While I agree to some extent, the biggest election in recent memory turned out to be the one Trump won. He changed the courts and made a blueprint that will harm this country for decades to come. None of that happens if Hillary wasn't such a shit candidate.

They went ok, the Democrats lost a bunch of those...Lincoln's VP was the root problem.
drunk guy monologuing for an hour about the good future and how it was lost, or same guy in a slightly more coherent fashion here (next ep is about the post-Lincoln presidents)

About other important elections, 1940 was massive for world history, saw effective foreign interference, and set the trajectory for the US conservative movement (the isolationists who lost that primary became the core of the ideological movement, eventually defeated the establishment wing who won that primary, and then won the world 40 years later)

Yeah the right guys won, it's just that they compromised too heavily to do so.

Edit: here's a great podcast from Scene on Radio about reconstruction. That entire season (The Land That Never Has Been Yet) is great in its entirety. After Jan 6th they rebroadcasted a particularly poignant episode, with some added commentary (https://sceneonradio.org/rebroadcast-s4-e8-the-second-redemption/).

Sometimes, well, a lot of the time, when i watch conservative media, it feels like i'm entering a different reality altogether.

"Biden supports unions!", yes, and this is supposedly a bad thing?

Who ever did this and the Marge ad deserves massive bonus.

That reminds me when Sean Hannity did a video in 2018 about AOC platform and criticized it vehemently. Apparently all in that platform it was very bad for the people

AOC, of course replied, that they approved the message

And of course they want to have it both ways, be anti-union, while at the same time Trump is going to make a visit, speaking to the UAW, as if he is on their side or something.

Good thing that the UAW has already made it very clear they aren't buying Trump/republicans nonsense though.
