2024 U.S. Elections | Trump wins

@calodo2003
Imagine if all the GOP really accomplishes out of all of this is to ensure that they’ve hit the last generation that’ll ever support them.

I agree that Gen Z in particular is just getting angrier and angrier with the conservatives - but not all.

I think one thing the Rs realize and Dems do a poor job is knowing that there is a sizeable contingent of none white voters who agree with them:

Immigrants who feel superior to other immigrants, racial discrimination between the non whites (not a surprise for instance some minority groups were cheering the supreme court decision, because they feel they were not advantaged enough vs another), religion being a much stronger part of the identity in some of the Asian, Latino and Black population groups, and of course the fear of communism and large government oppression fears they stir up for many of the people coming from places around the world where that is an actual thing. Along with voting restrictions etc it's a playbook. It doesn't make me comfortable to see people just assume they are losing the future generation.

You may call it an assumption, but it is an observation I’ve made as someone who has taught the future generation of voters for over a decade now in a traditionally conservative part of a traditionally conservative state and I’ve witnessed a very noticeable shift in what my students, of all ethnicities, say about the Republican Party, especially within the last few years.

I see no way in which this SCOTUS decision in particular will make the GOP look better in their eyes.

It just doesn’t seem like they care at this moment in time. Or they know it’s inevitable & just want to inflict the appropriate amount of cruelty.

It does seem that certain immigrants regardless their legal status do look askance at the next wave of immigrants as lesser & undeserving of being in the states. I don’t know if it’s birth location - it seems that the Caribbean-born Latin diaspora in the states disapproves of the Central & South American-born would be immigrants; it could be fear that further immigration might cause those already in the states, especially those illegally, to undergo increased scrutiny & possibly more. Toss in micro-target messaging like the ‘scourge of communism’ & first generation born becoming comfortable with living in the US & there will be an even further dividing line vis à vis all Latino cultures domestically.

Only a matter of time before the SC justices & Republican political hierarchy goes in front of a bank of microphones railing for increased Secret Service protection for Obama & family & more laws against stochastic terrorism in the US, right? I mean, that’s what happened when a would be assassin was caught near Kavanaugh’s house…

Well, you only need to see suella braveman, priti patel and sunak in UK how they trwat the new immigrants

Strong words from Mrs Obama... Could this possibly mean she's thinking of running? And if she did, would she stand a chance? If Biden is as ill or tired as it seems and he agreed to step aside, would she be able to win?

With the uncertainty of Trump's position due to all his legal issues and with Joe's health being a major concern, this next election cycle is going to be extremely unpredictable. Especially with so many names in the hat on the Republican side and only really Joe for the Dems, could Michelle be the wild card to shake things up for the Dems?

The only thing I will say is that Michelle Obama would be a far more inspiring VP to have on the Biden ticket than Kamala Harris, especially when we know that the VP for the 2025-2029 cycle will most likely have more control over government affairs in the context of an ageing POTUS. That being said for the 999th time, everything hinges on what Michelle actually wants to do. Is she feeling better suited as a simple militant and former First Lady? Or does she feel the need to go a step higher in order to be more influential? Only she knows the answer.

Do you really want to unify the Conservatives though?

Few things would do that like a combination of being a woman and being black, then add in the fact she’s Obama’s wife.

The entirety of the right would stop squabbling and vote to keep her out.

The right can do whatever the feck they want. They can unify as much as they like, but I honestly don't think that would happen.

The independents and the true fiscal Republicans are the ones that need to be reached and anyone with a decent fiscal policy plan would be in a strong position, especially against Trump.

Not all Republicans are morons, they are not all Trump loving MAGA cult members. And they are certainly not all deplorable. They are conservative, but they love their country. A decent Democrat.option would be enough for them to either not vote, or vote against Trump if he was the Republicans candidate..

It's all speculation anyway as at the moment Biden is the only candidate being considered. But if he carries on making the stupid comments he's been making and falling over, he will lose it for the Dems regardless of who he is running against.

His daily cock ups are starting to become more and more indefensible..His Taliban comment yesterday was probably one of the worst he's made. The worst part is he was walking away and then turned back to answer a comment that had been shouted at him. He also lost it the day before and snapped at someone who was asking him questions.

Don't get me wrong, he has every right to snap at ridiculous suggestions and questions but at the moment he's just playing in to the oppositions hands and not doing himself any favours.

I honestly don't think he will make another 5 years and I just feel everyone is ignoring that.

It mainly hinges on who Biden chooses. Michelle might be an inspired choice who would be more popular than Harris with the voters. Certainly more charismatic. Not having previously held political office worked for Trump and perhaps it could for her. It would be risky though for Biden to dump Harris.

Just watched The Diplomat, a middling political drama where a female career diplomat is suddenly catapulted to being the next VP.

The author of the article: "i was on DeSantis team, who is a hateful prick and bases his campaign in hate, till the hate afected my collective. Because me me me me me me me..."

If that would not be the case she would still vote him because feck the others that he hates

Biden isn't going to drop Kamala Harris, it would become a headache for him and would lose him support among African American voters. Doesn't mean she should be VP, I don't think she is an effective communicator.

Michelle Obama is not going into politics. This has already been stated by the individual herself on a million occasions. I don't know why people keep bringing this up.

Even ignoring the bigotry for a second: Seeing Patrick Bateman and Thomas fecking Shelby in there makes it seem like the video was created by, or at least for, teenage boys.
