Wonder how many athletes will have to withdraw due to catching a cold today.
So, UK?Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
That is true, it's probably for the better too. They will get their focus in the games themselves.I appreciate that point.
But, many would skip this part in a usual ceremony while today people are watching a show and the athletes at the same time, thus making you stick longer.
GB coming.
I always thought it was just GB which included everyone. So, UK?
Fair point. That is true, it's probably for the better too. They will get their focus in the games themselves.
Disgraceful. I'm trying to eat my pasty and baked beans dinner but I'm shaking with rage.Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Enough small boats on the Seine to trigger the reform voters this evening.
I am just repeating what the commentator said.Disgraceful. I'm trying to eat my pasty and baked beans dinner but I'm shaking with rage.
CoachWhy is there Chinese guy in Ghana boat?
I may be wrong, but:I always thought it was just GB which included everyone.
So should be UK really.I may be wrong, but:
GB: England, Wales and Scotland
UK: GB + Northern Ireland
Some have already started. The French Olympic diving team started 2 days ago. They won 3-0.Looks like a lot of athletes have given this a miss and watching it from the village, bit shit if you are swimmer as your event start in 13 hours.
That’s my understanding, but people who know better are welcomed to correct me.So should be UK really.
I was about to ask the question which countries represent GB.So should be UK really.
The Uk includes all the foreign territories that your Olympic team doesn’t.So should be UK really.
Ireland.Republic of Ireland.

Ahh ok. I thought he missed his own boat and thought about joining other boat.Coach
There’s a bit of a complication with that, because athletes from Northern Ireland have the option of representing either GB or Ireland. A lot of Olympic sports are organised on an all-Ireland basis, as their organising bodies were founded before Irish independence. So therefore the two Olympic teams are GB and Ireland. So should be UK really.
Oh yeah, I recall having this discussion 4 years ago now makes sense.I think it's the other way around, and neither GB or UK fits overall. Mark Cavendish for example wouldn't fall under the UK as he's from the isle of man. The Falkland Islands are under team GB as well I think and not in the UK
Rome blows Paris out of the water in this regardOnly in Paris you can do this because there are so many iconic places, because of all the history, culture, literature, art and what not.
My kid loved this part.
Wondered if it was the building they were going past.France's national anthem a banger but why have they squeezed it halfway into the opening ceremony.
I like Rome, but it’s nowhere near Paris. You are comparing two different levels of cities.Rome blows Paris out of the water in this regard
