10 players of that starting XI were born in France, what makes half of them not "actually French"?
So which ones are the South Americans ? He made it seem as if the whole team was just a bunch of South Americans given passports. When in fact like I said only 5 were given passports and out of the 3 that started. AL Moeiz Ali was in Qatar since he was 7, came through the academy. So only Koukhi and Roro were given passports out of the starting 11 and as you mentioned Karim Boudiaf on the bench.
There was also Modibo who is originally Sudani but he was born in Qatar and went through Qatari academies. So as I mentioned 2 sudanese who went through Qatari academies, 2 Algerians and one Portuguese defender.
Out of the 14 players that played for Algeria in the AFCON final 9 were born in France, are they not Algerian ?
My whole point is the hypocrisy, if Europe is allowed to use their immigrant population for their benefit why can't Qatar ?

Qatar is the backup natural gas supplier for the UK now I think, so pretty unlikely we'll be boycotting..!
The problem Qatar might have, is fans travelling mid winter to the tournament from Europe, US and northern hemisphere generally as it's in December.
Covid will still be a thing most probably, so Qatar could end up as the world's viral evolution melting pot.

I cannot see many people going to be honest, at least from Christian/former Christian countries. Firstly, how do you sell this to your employer? By the end of the WC 22 most industries are going into the Winter break mode and are loath to give time off. Essentially those that go will either be having the best part of a month off or going then returning when most other people are out and the days are slow.
As for those with families it is one thing to dissappear for two weeks in Summer, another to dissappear for two weeks in the Christmas season/the main weeks for prep before Christmas. That isn't going to wash in many families as whilst some could maybe turn a Summer WC into some sort of Summer holiday, the kids would need to be taken out of school and Xmas planning/present buying will be a nightmare with this one.
As for those where the above doesn't matter, I cannot see the vast majority of them being overjoyed with the drinking rules and/or being able to get enough of their buddies together to make them want to go.
For sure, other countries where Dec isn't a massive holiday season and those people who just go regardless will still be there but from where I am sitting this isn't going to be a WC that is even slightly like the others' in terms of fan demographic (not saying that is a bad thing.)
I just read that two Norwegian journalists were recently detained for 30 hours and had all their equipment taken by the Qatari authorities. They were there to interview a critic of the regime, Abdullah Ibhais, but just hours before the interview, he was arrested and they detained.

Apparently the President of the Organising Committe has stated homosexuals are welcome but public displays of affection will not be tolerared.

I was always opposed to Qatar hosting the WC, but for reasons other than Human rights issues because if start going into that then honestly only a couple of countries should host it. I know it's not comparable but they are doing a great job with the Arab Cup and they are changing their rules to help make it a good tournament and appealing. With the money they are spending I believe from an organizational point of view it will be great.

Who is gonna go to jail because of this? Is Platini in trouble because of Qatar or something else? Anyhow, all those oil countries are BS and they are prospering on a lot of innocent blood being spilled.

But you can't send someone to jail just for lobbying to do businesses with a country.
Qatar has comercial relationship with tons of countries around the globe including : United States,UK,France,Japan, Germany, Philippines,India,Australia,Canada,South Korea,China,Malaysia,Turkey,Brazil,Indonesia,Morocco,etc

It's a World Cup FFS, there has always been joy, hugs, embraces, pogos, flesh-flashing (unfortunately most of it rather lardy). Don't play the "respect our culture" card, they asked to host it and should put up with what that is known to entail. It wasn't fans choosing them, was it?

Handholding and celebrations won't be frowned upon, they're not that stupid. But there is a good chance that LGBTQ associations/mouvements will try to get into the country to protest and try to embarass them. I don't think they will allow any form of public violence to happen. Detention under false motive and "surveillance" will surely happen.

I mean if it's done in a peaceful way, isn't it a good thing ? Tolerance and acceptance is a bit different to culture. When i said "embarass them" i didn't mean they should organize a gay pride but a peaceful march would be good. I don't think they will tear gas or beat them and waste a part of their sport washing.
In ideal world, yes. Those things rarely end well though and then there's accusations of infiltrations to derail it, etc. and all you know for a fact is a whole bunch of very innocent people got clubbed, imprisoned, etc.
