2021 Summer Olympics (Tokyo)

Well done the Norwegian that was a gutsy win well deserved.

That was one heck of a last mile by Blummenfelt, surprised Lee couldn’t finish it off given his running skills.

Disappointed for Van Riel; 6th in Rio and now 4th :( hopefully mixed relay will finally be a medal.

Blummenfeld's kick took Yee by surprise, who may have been more concerned about the New Zealander snatching silver from him. He probably might have been able to force the pace a bit more.

Still, a silver medal in your first games is pretty amazing.

Anyone any idea why the women's Street skate is so much worse than the men's? Men were scoring over 9 yesterday on the best trick section, the women are doing pretty straight forward tricks for some reason. For anyone that watches skating more often, would you expect some proper tricks once it gets to the final.

Have you ever been to a skatepark? There’s your answer.

I watched the some of the men's heat yesterday and final, they definitely pulled out their best tricks and upped their game in the final, with the last 8.
Don't think there was any 9s, maybe 1 or 2 during the heats. Unlike in the finals.

So I suppose it goes the same way for the women's.

Makes sense, flicked it on as I enjoyed the men's yesterday, and then saw scores of 2 being applauded as something special, was confused as anything. Will likely flick it back on for the final if I'm still awake

Weird that they would applaud 2s though  I'd also be confused.

Going to try fall asleep again, and try wake up for the Djokovic match in about 2 hours.:boring:

The biggest plus so far for me is having access to pretty much whatever you want as what isn't on TV is streamed free. Being able to watch water polo in 1080 HD on TV is a major upgrade and makes it so much better to watch. Most pointless sport so far is skateboarding.

Apparently no one in the chasing group knew that Kieserhofer were so far ahead. Van Vleuten genuinly believed she took the gold!
Makes sense, i couldn’t believe the group didn’t push harder to catch her!

Yeah, totally bizarre race. She wasn’t the only one with no idea Kieserhofer had already won. A bunch of riders were congratulating van Vleuten. How the hell does half the peloton not realize she was still up the road? At any rate, it was a great ride by Kieserhofer and a well deserved victory.

Ledecky dethroned

Also great men's 4×100 fs relay. Silver!

Now Doncic is doing...things....to argentina

Pidcock on course for gold imo. Such a shame for Van der Poel :(

Come on Tom Daley & Matty Lee, fingers crossed they don't do anything stupid on the last dive would be great if they can get gold especially against China

The Cross country BMX looks exciting I'll be switching to that after the diving if still on

Flückiger with a costly mistake, think he overplayed his hand trying to keep up with Pidcock.

Broke his collarbone five fecking weeks ago and is on his way to Olympic gold in mountainbiking right now. What a legend already.

Impressive diving this morning. I don't read the sport at all well, but even I could see those last dives by GB and China were exceptional.

Will he be doing the time trial?
No he's done after this, not a TT specialist and focused solely on the MTB race. TT will be between Ganna, Dennis and Van Aert imo, with Roglic, Küng and Evenepoel maybe as outsiders.

He has quit just now, real shame. At least it was his own mistake and not because of someone else, only has himself to blame.

Shame. In hindsight should have just stayed at the tour, could’ve had a fun final week.

Fantastic achievement by Daley and Lee as China are usually untouchable, they were miles clear in the women's yesterday

Come on Tom Pidcock!

Will have to watch Adam Peaty on catch up

Wish they'd stop changing the channels

Why aren’t we lobbying for the whole Olympics to be under water?

Runs a 5k under 15 minutes, rivals Van Aert and Van der Poel both in cyclocross and on the road and now wins Olympic gold in MTB. 21 years old, some athlete.

If you're getting good odds on him getting top 3 at the Vuelta next month, don't hesitate.

Pleased for Pidcock. He looked the strongest MTB rider just before his injury so it's nice that hasn't ruined his quest for gold here. Not to forget this is only his side gig, once he starts riding a full season on the road in the coming years, he's going to be a contender pretty much anywhere that isn't too flat.

I only follow 3 sports - Football, Cricket, Snooker. Two of which aren't in the Olympics. :(

I don't have an interest in any other sport and so, if it's a sport I don't care about at all, then I also don't care who wins it, or if that person represents GB or not. So I only really watch the (mens) Football at the Olympics. Certainly in the early stages. I find some of the track events watchable for a bit - mainly the shorter running events - so I tend to watch some of those later in the Olympics. But, by and large, the vast part of each Olympics just pass me by while I focus on the Cricket and United's summer transfers / friendlies.
