2021 Summer Olympics (Tokyo)

Mad that they finish in this time I’m about 2 hours slower than them crazy!

The women doing 20 km in 70 minutes in this heat and they aren't even halfway. I barely manage 10-11 km in an hour on the treadmill!
They are incredible, I’ve watched the whole marathon, amazing athletes

If it is any consolation I run considerably faster on road than a treadmill

I was delighted with my marathon time of 3hours 34 minutes and then I watch these women. Incredible running. Did I hear the commentators say it's only Seidel's 2nd ever marathon?!

Fantastic if it is she ran really well, and 3:34 would shit on most runners just gives an idea of how fast these girls are..

Love to sit up for the men’s basketball but I think it’s bedtime for me…

dont really watch much Basketball, but to me it looked like USA struggled at times, did not have it all their own way.
They struggled all the way to win the Gold :)
It's just fair competition. Obviously to beat the team that makes it all the way to the finals won't be a walk in the park.

Considering that the Olympics was the first time the majority of them played together, the struggle was clear.

They won based on KD being unstoppable, take him away and Team USA were very underwhelming and won't make it past Spain.

That was an excellent performance by Yafai. He has been such a fun boxer to watch with his aggressive style of boxing

Agree and it's a good thing we have KD and they made it past Spain.

chinese dominance when it comes to diving competitions is absolutely insane. Why are they so much better? Is it their physical average that's so suitable for that sport?

bronze for Daley is a great achievement, happy for him

Watching the men’s indoor cycling, and specifically the 6 lap keirin event. For the 1st 3 laps they have a pacesetter that cycles ahead of them to keep them in order.
Then he peels off and the mad sprints begin, up to 75 km/hr begin for the last 3 laps.
Q: why don’t they just have a 3 lap race? It’s weird to see the pacesetter on an ordinary bike just holding them back. He looks like he’s out for a leisurely ride.

Population of 1.4bn. They put kids from age 4 in sporting boarding schools that train them in an intense way that the western nations would deem as abusive. They focus of certain sports with high medal possibilities and that suit the athletic capabilities of their people. They don’t put as much effort into developing athletes for track and field as they do in things like diving and table tennis for example.

He’s on a motorised bike.

If they only had 3 laps they wouldn’t get those mad speeds. If they didn’t have a pacesetter no one would want to take the lead. It would be like this 1v1 race where they look at each other for half the race.

It’s interesting watching the men’s madison today. A lot more finely balanced compared to yesterday women’s one where Laura Kenny and Katie Archibald won every sprint bar one I think.

The track is so congested it’s amazing there aren’t even more crashes

That was a great race. I’d be interested to know if that was the GB tactic all along to finish that way. If they’d just got one more point in one of the earlier sprints they would have got gold.

Earlier on they looked like they were going for consistency which ended up being the Danish tactic and worked better for them.

Think GB should be a little disappointed with that silver in the Madison… they were clearly coasting for a long time leaving a lot left in the tank. If they’d just pushed a tiny bit harder in the middle of the race they’d have probably got gold.

Our German coaches playing a blinder with microphones everywhere and no fans. First the racist idiot at the cycling time trial now this woman.
I'm quite amused that just yesterday after I ranted about all the horse riding disciplines today there's a huge debate in Germany how plenty of it is flat out horrible for the horses.

Meanwhile, German television showing horse riding:annoyed: there's just way too much horse stuff at the Olympics, I mean it's nice to identify which nations are full of posh idiots and entertaining to watch the riders fume when the horse just refuses to jump but surely it's time to bin this outdated garbage.

Brits finished 3 points behind. Anyway, that logic would only have worked if the Danes were toast towards the end. The reality was that they knew only France could overtake them so they spent the final laps on the French wheel instead of trying to win the final sprint.
