2021 Summer Olympics (Tokyo)

We've all been screaming for Tortu to run the 200m too, don't get why he didn't...

It's a weird feeling - GB finished higher than I thought they would at the start and yet I feel like we threw it away a bit. The 4x100m victory in Athens is one of my favourite Olympic memories and I thought we were about to unexpectedly do it again! Hats off to Italy though, what a year.

Never heard of him. Amazing last leg. I was amazed GB was ahead at the last leg (great 3rg leg) but once he was, thought he'd win. Lost a bit of form in last 5-10 yards, stretching a bit.

Italy's year keeps on going?
Gold at U17 european championships in the 100m, first italian to go under 10 secs. But the impression is that it's the 200m where he could really become one of the best

Had enough of Italy after this summer. Just poured my chianti down the kitchen sink and chucked the pasta out.

The last leg of the relay is essentially a 200m style sprint anyway as you're already into your stride - would like to see his split time as he was very quick.

Get used to it, it's only the start of our plan for world domination

Kept his form in last leg, GB lad will look back at that last part (watched again, def tightened up and also didn't dip as well).

Coulda, woulda, shoulda...

Good games, fair play Japan. I'd give them another one in 20 years

Yeah. It's something pretty much everyone who follows the sport has been saying about him for a while. He'd be better off in the 200m

I felt the last GB guy slowed down thinking he'd won it already, and by the time he realized that there was still some distance to go, there was no way he could have accelerated to his full pace

What an incredible day for GB overall though. They are going to hit 60 medals again despite doing really badly in rowing

Probably just lost his form knowing he was in the lead. Sometimes you can tense up / get tight when you try too hard.

He's usually a really good finisher, the silly thing is he's often used to coming from behind like the Italian lad, so maybe that caught him a bit by surprise.

He looks absolutely gutted bless him, must be so difficult knowing you had it in your hands and lost it right at the last moment. I hope he can get over it.

 No chance!

His muscles tensed up under pressure. You can tell by the way his body was rocking from side-to-side.

I don't know where the Japanese downloaded this version of the British national anthem. But it sounds a lot better than usual.

Then take them off for a group photo?

I didn't make the rules!

Athletes must wear masks at all Tokyo Olympic Games venues, including medal ceremonies, the International Olympic Committee said on Sunday, but under a new policy they are briefly allowed to remove them on the podium for a photo opportunity.

Masks are mandatory across all venues, both inside and outside, for all athletes, staff and media, as part of Games organisers' strict measures to combat the coronavirus.

"It's not a nice to have. It's a must to have," said IOC spokesman Mark Adams.

"No, there is no relaxation and we would urge and ask everyone to obey the rules," Adams said. "It's important for the sports, for everyone involved and for our Japanese friends and it would send a strong message."

They’ve been going with some incredible music choices throughout this olympics.

My favourite so far was when a clearly emotional legendary British sports climber fell off a boulder, confirming she wouldn’t win a medal in what she had previously said would be her final event before early retirement due to chronic injury problems.

Which prompted an ear-splitting rendition of Monty Python’s “Bright Side of Life”.

Only 7 away (2 guaranteed boxing medals) from our Rio tally, are there enough opportunities left for Britain to get above 67 medals?

He was too tense. He was rocking from side to side. The moment got to him unfortunately which is why I think he was so gutted at the end.

Nah, tightened up.

I'm glad they got a medal. GB went through a period of arsing changes or dropping the baton so silver is ok

Need to concentrate now ….women’s beach volleyball

Penalties to decide the football final.

That's like celebrating winning Olympic gold on the dancing horses.
Eurovision is a huge and massively important competition, it's the olympics of music really. This year.

Every other year it's meaningless crap :D

Btw, eagerly awaiting the genius who will photoshop chiellini and saka over the italian and GB runners there
