While that's good as it would incapacitate the right (at least for a while), and force the Democrats back to the left (cause the leftover GOP would be more centre-right than the current GOP) - I would worry that the QTP (no, not Q-Tip - poor guy) would soon basically become a violent militia, a.k.a. domestic terrorist group. I mean, they would probably lose political influence pretty quickly, cause they would not be prepared to work with others or compromise and would scare anyone reasonable away. That would further entrench their feelings of disconnection to US society and worsen their violent impulses. A bit like an American RAF or IRA. That probably sounds overly dramatic, but after yesterday, I'm feeling a lot more negative about these things.

As someone who has also been there, it also is abjectly galling to me.
Just listened to someone state exactly this, especially due to the fact that the Capitol building itself was officially closed due to Covid. They were wondering why so many doors & access points were still open considering this.
