2021 American Civil War

Most likely they would be supporters of the castle doctrine for their private property, but also supporters of the first amendment.

Obviously they don't have a right to be in the public building in a restricted area just because they are using their free speech because the government is entitled to reasonable time, place and manner restrictions on speech.

Which its clearly reasonable to deny them access to the Capitol Building while in session and they can be trespassed by being removed from the premises - and that includes reasonable force.
That’s a lot of words to say “if you commit insurrection and storm the Capitol, don’t be surprised if you’re shot”

Not exactly what you said, though.

I agree that he is simply a grifter. He’s not a Republican either. He did support abortion rights for decades, so that’s a tally on his ‘liberal’ side. He probably needed to avail himself of several over the years.

He was just keen enough to realize his populism spoke more to the mental deficients that inhabit the right, they were the easily manipulated ones who could propel him to the presidency.

What I meant was Trump was never actually a Democrat. He's been appealing to right-wingers and acting on right-wing policies since the 1970s. While he might have been registered, that really doesn't mean anything to someone like Trump who was always drifting and always had a personal agenda. He was briefly a Reform party registered but that was simply because he and Roger Stone thought they might be able to use that as a vehicle for personal gain. During the time he might have been registered as a Dem, he only voted in something like 5 out of 14 elections and was the biggest proponent of the Obama birther conspiracy theory. It's basically like some people I know that registered Republican in 2008 and/or 2016 simply so they could vote in the Republican primary. They were never actually Reps just like Trump was never really a Dem.

Kind of a tangent here but that the Boston bomber isn't considered 'white' shows that the whole racial categorisation is essentially arbitrary. He could easily pass as an Italian or Greek.

I know this isn't some great insight but still, it's ridiculous that Gennaro Gattuso and Erling Haaland are both white but this guy isn't.
I'm reading Akala's book at the moment and a big point of his that race is so artificial and constructed that it's really all about what the powers that be want in a certain place. He's half Jamaican, half English/Scottish so he's black in the UK and "higher coloured" in the Caribbean and so on.
I'm about 2/3rds through and would recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it.

I hear ya.

Ultimately, he's an apolitical opportunist with no moral compass or principles other than the pursuit of power for self-aggrandizement.
Don’t disagree. He was also handled pretty well, just like Reagan.

Them Gates ain't holding back nobody

I read yesterday they let them through so the mob would not use the gates as weapons (did I read on this site? I cant remember). After seeing that video I think I understand that view point. Still doesnt explain the sheer lack of police and security

Sir, we have a crowd of 200 coming on to the gate now.

Ok. Send 4 policemen, no guns.
"Let Fisty McPuncherson stand on the sidelines until they've already breached the gate. And bring me my sniffin' glue."

Just in case anyone in the future doubts the title of the thread (the Confederacy part):

Facebook and Twitter were complicit and have blood on their hands. Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey only cared b/c they knew it was their fault.

Totally off topic, I cant remember if its you I heard it from but I cant refer to your PM as anything other than Scotty from Marketing now! The Mrs cracks up when I do, so cheers if it was you!
I find this really cringy to be honest. Why does Americans keep spouting this "greatest country in the world" when its pretty far from it.

Think i can name about 30 countries i'd much rather live in than the US
They are indoctrinated into this thinking from birth. You could pay me £1 million and I wouldn't live in that place.
America isnt a country, its a cult. And it starts so early on with that pledge of allegiance daily, flags literally everywhere, the place is batshit crazy

and b/c the Dems now have control of both oversight committees
A lot of cowardice was exposed yesterday and now some of these same spineless individuals are being hailed as "courageous". America lost nearly all it's integrity last night across the public and private sector.

The length some people are going to on here to defend the shooting of a domestic terrorist.. :wenger:
