2020 US Elections | Biden certified as President | Dems control Congress

Does this election indicate that majority of Americans absolutely hate progressive politics and Democrats moving towards the centre more and more is necessary for their survival?
Or is it as simple as they love Trump.

Would it be bad to keep CNN on and have the match on mute on another screen? I mean realistically it's just going to mean Mc Manamanaamaan being muted so..
That's what I'm going to do, if that's any help. At least we can be subpar, plastic fans together.

Why don't they start doing this like a week early, then have an election day where it's pretty much all announced?

all this fast over night counting, then a few days to count the last lot seems very anti climactic.

Would seem to be good for everyone's sanity if PA isn't key to the result.

This is positively encouraged,

I'd mute McMananananannanaman even if it meant listening to Trump waffle on about fake tan all night,

It is similar to 2018 elections, where the expected blue wave never happened and just about gave Dems the house.

Its absolutely scary to see that the Trump appeal is still there. As someone on CNN said last night, Dems may yet claim the political victory, but the country is as divided as it has been.

It was a blue wave in 2018. The Dems added more to the house since the early 70s in 18. The Senate was not thought to change hands because it was mostly Dems who were up for reeelection (unlike this year when there are more Rs).

Maybe. But now they have to contend with all the crazies - from QAnon, far-right nutters, and a motley assortment of wild conspiracy theorists - that Trump has drawn into the party

They were always there in the first place and lets face it the Karens are on the wane

The outcome of 2018’s senate elections meant that, in the immediate aftermath, analysts were predicting the senate wouldn’t flip in 2020 but democrats had a good shot of doing so in 2022. That might still hold true. It is just the “blue wave” predictions that shifted the narrative on this cycle’s outcome, based off of 2018 projections we’re probably on track.

Trump needs to hold GA and NC and then win NV and PA. Odds favor Biden. I don't think Trump can win MI.

It's a weird election, though, the GOP looks to gain about 10 house seats, hold the senate, and lose the presidency.

Jeez the way it looks right now Nevada could decide the election and Biden only leads with 8000 votes. Could this be any more nail-bitery?

Mail ballots to be counted, Biden is expected to dominate those. Relax!

US politics and UK politics are very very different. I'd say that the democrats are probably more conservative than our own Tory party.

Think its just mail-in ballots left to count there, so I'd expect Biden to pull through.

Conventionally yes, but not sure about our current Tory administration. Our conservatives in recent years have veered a fair bit further to the right (but still to the left of GOP cons).

No chance of that happening. He's getting battered in Detroit and only 75% of the votes are counted there. Most likely Biden will stretch the lead, whilst the small counties are already at 95-99%.

My reading is that the economy is what people care about most, while social issues (abortion, guns, LGBT) are not as important for the election as people think. Dems possibly need to redefine themselves and talk less about identity politics while trying to attach themselves to the middle-class. Without covid, Trump would have won this easily, and there won't be covid in 4 years.

So what's the expectation if Trump takes this to the SCOTUS? Does he get back in via that route?
He'll bitch and moan about a made up scandal, say that the election was stolen by socialist communist fascists. Then he'll rile up 50% of the population to the point where they want to shoot some innocent person on the street, before quietly leaving the White House without any complaint. Then he'll set up his own news network where his family can make millions off of the back of division and hatred. And at some point lots of people will get hurt and, maybe, he or his son will run in four years as an independent depending on how well his TrumpNewsCorp does.

disagree, most of the votes left are mail in votes from Vegas area. its a formaility at this point. Wont be called till tomorow though it seems

With Michigan pretty much save, this would mean victory, right?
