2020 US Elections | Biden certified as President | Dems control Congress

Ashley Koning, academic and polling expert, says it isn't a case of an easy win for Joe Biden on Sky News' election programme, America Decides.

"I think this is just becoming more and more of a nail-bitter as we go into the night.

"Clearly the scenario of Biden having an easy win is out.

"Perhaps we didn't account for how much this difference between election day voting versus early voting and mail in ballots really is taking a toll on how we process election results, how we count them and how pre-election polling interpreted them.

"The election is not won by national polls which mimic the popular vote, it's won by the electoral college which is mimicked by state-wide polling and we knew going into this that a lot of these battleground states had very close margins."

Don't think there has been a single state that started red & changed to blue , every single flip has been blue to red .

OH, FL, GA, NC, TX all comfortably Trump wins.

Leading early in PA as well now. Pretty much over.

Exactly. America needs to be divided into two separate countries.
Starting to think the world would be better this way. Anyone who's sound one side and complete morons on the other. They'd end up blowing us up because of a conspiracy theory though.

Not an American but I try to follow American politics closely and must confess, I find this ridiculous. After all he's said and done (or not done when it comes to COVID), Trump has a decent chance of winning! Where do you draw the line? If Trump's behavior is acceptable and supported by majority of Americans, how low is the bar? Not to mention, a Trump win would mean he would be even more unhinged and out of control, so will be the entire republican party and the future POTUS candidates. It's just sad watching this happen.

It's not a majority though. It's the outdated electoral college. If it was a popular vote, as it should be, then this wouldn't be an issue. The issue is how a fanatical minority is manipulating every aspect of an outdated system to stay in power at all costs.

Not any less depressing mind, but its something

Why he is talking about Virginia? AP already called it for Biden.

He seems behind in other states too.
Think CNN decided to take the cautious road this time so they can claim they were right along most of the way if Trump wins and CNN projects wrong (again?)they're giving even more ammunition to Trump and co to be open to ridicule.

Trump re-elected
Corona until 2023
OGS staying
No Sancho
No Haaland
Liverpool to win the PL
Tory government
Arsenal looking a force under Arteta
Cyberpunk delayed
GTA 6 nowhere in site
Everyday we're closer to old age

Is there anything to look forward to?

How the hell Trump is doing so well? Is it because Joe Biden is not liked by Democrats? Man waking up to this news is depressing

Still, it's utterly incredible that Trump is going to win with a record turnout. How? Not even the absolutely broken Electoral College explains that adequately.

I had the same question a while ago. It's winner takes all in all states right now, except in Maine and Nebraska. State legislatures can change the rules in their states, but I think nothing has changed in a very long time(?).

What I read is that they do have the option to opt for the other guy even if they are from the opposite party. Its unlikely but not impossible.

So Biden has a 200k advantage with about 600k votes still to be counted. Meaning Trump needs about 70% of those.

He'll probably do it but at least this one might be close unlike Ohio or Florida.

He needs +24 on the last 27% in-person votes.

This state is squeaky bum time.

If Trump wins AZ, he will ensure he gets the SC to give him one of PA, WI, MI

Economy matters.

People's 401ks have gone up.

The US has done a bad job on Covid but so has most of the Western world.

Any excitement in the senate/house races as yet or are we still largely going as expected there?
With Pence deciding the ties, it is hard to see anything but a Republican win. Hickenlooper won as expected, and Collins will likely lose, but Dems need another 3 seats to control the senate (considering that Jones is gonna lose). And it seems that is just not gonna happen (Graham was supposed to be a tie but won easily, while McConnell seems to have won by 20 points).

So, it seems that nothing will change. Dems keep the House, GOP keeps the presidency and the senate.

Pennsylvania seems red currently with 25 percent of the votes counted.

Pissed off with myself for reading the polling tweets everyday on this thread. Nothing like what was expected.

Anyone who thinks that betting markets & financial market is just cluelessly gambling is absolutely clueless themselves. Trump started the day at 2.5 and has moved to 1.2 in 3 hours and that's because it's obvious that it is looking very very hard for Biden now

Exactly following the events we're all watching unfold, who would have thought it.

The sweet release of death.

It’s way too early to be calling GA or NC, and despite TX being a long shot it’s still not comfortable for Trump in any way. Neither is Ohio.

Any reason as to why this keeps happening? This is the first time I’ve really followed an American election
mail in and early voting tends to favor democrats, but votes on election day favor republicans.

GA and NC are done.

As is TX.

This is basic data analysis.
