Was talking to a mate who lives in Boston and he was saying that we won't know for days due to the amount of early voting.

Depends! Say, if Biden wins Florida then it is as good as done early. However, if it hinges on PA then it might drag on.

It depends to be honest. Early voting in Florida is actually incredibly efficient. If Biden wins Florida and North Carolina this will be over by midnight. If its close and PA is who we are waiting on then this won't be over for a couple days because of how they count ballots.

I don’t believe these are actual vote counts. Just a count of how many registered democrats republicans and non-affiliated voters have voted. Not actually how they’ve voted.

Yep, in fact there may even be a larger percentage of registered Reps voting Dem this year than the other way around (some polling data out there to back this up) so we really won't know until votes start getting counted.

Exactly.

Exit polls are banned in the US as well, until voting is fully concluded (I hope I am remembering this correctly).
 
It would be good if, when people post Twitter voting information, they also posted some kind of commentary of what the data is meant to mean ...
 
i asked this same question in the "stocks thread" but is pretty dead

today the markets all over the world are going up

does it mean that the markets are confident on a Bidens victory? or do they like Trump?
