2020 US Elections | Biden certified as President | Dems control Congress

To be fair, Europe should fecking be able to do it in their own. Even Spain has a larger GDP than Russia. It is a total embarrassment that Europe cannot defend itself from China while having a GDP that is like 20 times bigger.
That's not really fair though. The reason it is so, is that after the cold war an implicit deal was made that made the US basically the guarantor of Western peace in exchange of tremendous influence and pracrically calling of all the shots. Also, for the US, some of its allies (but former enemies) getting very strong militarily was not desirable. If the US can no longer be trusted to fulfill this role, then of course military spending will increase in the EU . The problem that would remain would be the huge disparity in nuclear capability between Russia and EU. And a new nuclear race is the last thing everyone needs.

As always, 1 poll could be an outlier, but looks like we can paint WI blue. Tough luck @WI_Red (The red means GOP right!!) :boring:

FL is worrying w/r to early voting. It's also out of sync with the rest of the country, where the Dems have had a much larger share of early voting. BUT, my understanding is that the GOP have been laser focussed on FL as it's pretty much the only path to victory for Trump, largely at the expense of other battleground states.

I've kind of made my peace to expect nothing from Florida. It's kind of the worst.

Not easy with the EU being totally broke. They are defenseless against US/Russian/Chinese military force and would probably stand little chance against Turkey. Timing for military reinforcement could not be worse.

Speaking of places that are broke; Turkey.

As far as I have seen, Trump is up heavily with early voters (how this is known I am unsure, exit polls maybe?) But Biden is said to be well up with mail in ballots. Apparently to the tune of somewhere around 300-500k which is huge if true.

However, that's apparently reflected around most of the country and that is the exact reason Trump and the Republicans will cry rigged election and move heaven and earth to get all mail in ballots discounted due to uncertainty over legitimacy.

Can anyone really see Trump leaving peacefully and without any tricks or attempts to devalue Biden's win or without scorching the earth and taking everything and everyone down with him?

Most polls are reported as showing Joe Biden leading in the popular vote , but if early/mailed in votes are not counted/opened until 3rd Nov, how can anyone know that the high numbers voting it is mainly for Biden? Surely they could just a easily be for Trump. Do the Polls record who has already voted, as well as who they prefer?
Exactly what are the indicators that are used to suggest the early/mailed in voters favour Biden?

The right are really pushing this Hunter Biden story now. There was an interview with Tucker Carlson last night with someone which gained some reaction. Signs of desperation I think and trying to repeat the Hilary Comey story but unsure what impact it will have.
Basically none.

Just likely voters (don't know what % of WI would be undecided, but if it's 20% we know they tend to be 'seeking permission to say Trump but scared'). Still. 17. Turns out inspiring people to kidnap your governor isn't a good look.

Turkish Lira is a bloodbath but their military is huge. Meanwhile, Germany is de facto demilitarized without allied forces, Brexit has further weakened the EU's military power. The EU simply cannot defend itself effectively without US forces at this point in time.

It's hard to imagine a scenario without civil unrest. Do you think a legitimate Trump win would be acknowledged by the radicalised left, especially with polls showing the other way? It's probably a good idea to not be too emotionally invested in the outcome of this election. You either will be disappointed on Nov 4th or during the months after that when 'your guy' won't live up to his promises, as usual.

This isn't about that at all. I don't think there are many people who think that Biden is going to FDR 2.0. This election is exclusively about getting rid of a destructive sociopath that is taking a dump on democracy and its norms on a regular basis, and installing a president who will act like a decent grown up.

Low expectations. At least you show some realism here.

Which is why Trump acting how he has might actually have a silver lining. The EU leaders have clearly seen they need to take action or risk being left high and dry.

using the US interior Instagram page for pro Trump campaign adds surely must violate the Hatch Act. Another law broken

I don't think what @SirAF is saying there is really groundbreaking stuff. I doubt many people are going into the polling places with super high bars set for Biden.

Exactly. I mean, if the whispers of a Green Deal and as such could become a reality that's great. But what @Libano perhaps doesn't get is that 2020 is about STOPPING the destructive force that is Trump. I don't care if it's Biden, Warren, Sanders or Howard "The Scream" Dean. Trump gotta go.

The next cycle will be about hopfully getting in a more progressive candidate.

Will to action won't be enough when there are no financial means or political unity to execute. They are fighting over collateralizing national debts into Euro bonds. In other words, we are in the midst of a financial endgame.

In hindsight, Brexit may end up being a blessing in disguise. The UK by itself is more maneuverable and actually has a decent military with nuclear capabilities.

In which world do China, Russia or Turkey threaten the EU with military force? It's a fantasy scenario upheld by the US to justify their overbloated military complex which fills the pockets of few.

In which world is the US such an altruistic nation that it will defend some foreign countries when it does not even care about its own citizens' needs, e. g. lack of first world healthcare system?

If anything US nuclear bombs stationed in Germany makes Germany the primary target in a theoretical war scenario.

Unbelievable to read this stuff on Libcafe of all places.

Exactly.

On the bright side, from purely anecdotal evidence of folks I know or am related to, I can count about a dozen South Carolinians who voted Trump that regret their vote and are voting Biden this time around. Again - purely anecdotal, but if everyone knows a few people like that, then that adds up. Gotta find hope where you can.

Is this irony I'm not getting or?
