2020 US Elections | Biden certified as President | Dems control Congress

Your posts are good but you're in the wrong place. I said some similar things few months ago and was called a trump supporter for it. I commented specifically on free college and how it's not an easy problem (but one we should solve )

Anyway I can't believe anyone thinks biden looked weak today. He dominated trump for me who seemed very triggered
I only saw half an hour and Biden did seem to be on the backfoot a lot. Hope Trump gets destroyed in the voting but he has more presence and comfort infront of the camera/on the stage and is showed. Biden was getting dragged into Trump's usual bitching and I didn't think he'd be left corner as much as he did. With the amount of skeletons in Trump's closet I'd have expected him to be on the backfoot and made to look like the clown that he is.

Maybe the rest of the debate was different? But I think Biden is just a very average public speaker which doesn't help. I liked Hilary's on stage presence better tbh.

How there are any undecideds is beyond me. Are there really any out there or is that just to big up the debates?
Most I know, small sample alright, are already decided and have been for years.

I think there are like 11% at last count. They have to be the dumbest mofos out there or just conning just to get gigs like what Frank or any media outlets do.

Trump is doing well playing up to his base. I'll concede that.

However, for anyone whose IQ is bigger than their shoe size, this is a fecking shitshow.

Which is odd because his base will already vote for him. Doesn't he get that? He can't claw back Biden's lead by preaching to the converted.

Biden did what he needed to. Competent and did nothing to drive any floating/undecided voters away. Trump did nothing to haul back the poll deficit.

Hopefully that is game over.

Not going to lie thought Trump came across well. Biden was okay too but didn’t really wow me with his presence. Not feeling totally confident about America making the right decision after watching that.

Even our decidedly critical of Trump media are saying he was much better than Biden. I didnt see the debate, mind, but that sounds bad.

I have yet to see European media doing a solid job covering our elections. Its kinda hard to understand this country when most if them are probably operating out of a cushy NYC or LA studio most of the time. These arent the 60s and 70s anymore when people truly gave a shit about the debates, if they even (truly) watch them.

Fair enough. They also said he lied constantly, but I think after 4 years of his reign, facts arent that relevant anymore.

I haven’t seen that take at all, must only be the dutch :p Biggest Noggie newspaper gave Trump 3/6 and Biden 5/6.

Everybody in Europe has access to the same news outlets (MSNBC, Fox, CNN etc) if they care enough. What seems to be impossible is to get a solid, well-researched and non-partisan view on what's going on. Journalism is a broken industry begging to be disrupted.

Pretty much. Local media etc are dominated on a daily basis by campaign commercials etc (well hypothetically.. Who the feck still has cable tv these days??) its impossible to not be bombarded with some campaign advertising somewhere. Im getting daily emails from companies telling me to vote, etc.

Its imho still fairly simple - one man can do no wrong in the eyes of his voters no matter what he does. Another man is flawed too but at least isn't that other guy. Due to the lack of unified tribalism on the left though they need to be able to see past those flaws. Ive never seen such a concerted effort to simply push folks to vote. And that's more or less as simple as this is- if the dem voters show in full force this time- it doesn't matter what Trump says. Similarly Trump will win if the dems don't. The presidential race is in the hands of the dems one way or another. In many ways the senate races are far interesting this time.

Anyway.. I should go to bed.

Not really hard, Dutch tv just shows them talking and analyses it.

The amount of disinformation Trump has injected in politics does make it more challenging. The amount of times he just flat out lies about stuff is crazy. Then there are outlets like OANN or whatever it's called that simply just repeat it is if it's true. That is indeed a problem, but there's plenty of honest journalists. They're left spending most of their time trying to debunk the endless stream of nonsense coming out of things like OANN, Infowars and whatever other online seweroutlet the Trumpies have.

Trump's lies isn't even a lie, it's straight out "extremely bullshit" stuff anyone with an IQ number higher than their shoes' size would know.

If you need analyst to know which is bull and which isn't then probably the problem isn't Trump.

The problem is that many people blindly believe whatever he says. It's of course the main problem of a democracy, the average person is fecking stupid. And then, half is even dumber and all of them get a vote.

Utterly useless debate. Trump continued with mind melting verbal diarrhoea. Biden was just normal/typical centre-right politics fluff speak.

I basically stayed tune to laugh at Trump.

Spot on.

I watched it. Biden was ok and made no huge stuff ups. Mission achieved.

Trump was slightly less mental than in debate #1 but still doing zero to convince anyone who wasn't already going to vote for him, no matter what, to switch to him.

I think it is game over for the orange toddler.

I sincerely hope so, but part of me feels this weird inevability that he will somehow win again.

If Trump can't get ballots thrown out, I just can't see how Biden loses. It's all about the lawsuits.

Sounds like the debate was a bit of a non event.

Which is a win for Biden, Trump needed a big win to turn things round and he didn't get it .

Yup, I was bricking it when I woke up this morning and was about to check the news

God bless Ariana Grande. Meh music, but impossible not to like the lass.

Depends which side you read here. Murdoch's Sun had Trump winning, unsurprisingly, with the Guardian saying Biden won.

After 5 years of playing the role of an unhinged jerk, going out character for one night will obviously create the perceptual illusion that he had a good night. Still, he lied more than during the first debate. He just did it more warmly and without interrupting as much.

Debating is pretty easy when you don't have to give answers based in any kind of reality. And for Trump there are no repercussions whatsoever with his base.

So sure, we're really turning a corner on Covid (cases going up at record levels) we're learning to live with it (225k dead) and a vaccine will be out in a couple weeks (it won't). That's a nice easy answer. None of it is true, but who cares, it's just people dying.

I mean, that's the logical conclusion of this whole thing. Biden blitzes Trump, but against all the polls - even exit ones - Trump somehow takes a few urban counties in Pennsylvania, and just enough in Wisconsin. Wins.

January 21st: FBI confirm that Russian hackers digitally altered voting results. The White House denies the FBI's reporting, saying "the FBI is filled with left-leaning Hillary Clinton supporters, and no President has ever done more for anyone, ever."

Im going with a hundred million ballots arriving courtesy of moscow all voting for trump
And trump basically using something along the lines of the democrats said mail in ballots were totally safe and i win? - if you get rid of all the mail in ballots I still win anyway
Somewhere along the line he will probably tell the proud boys to burn all the counting centres to the ground to get rid of the evidence

better debate. I felt 2nd half Biden started to slur his words and make some strange claims, he even checked his watch at one point. The bit where he said America was friends with Hitler pre his attacking Europe had me shaking my head a little. I don't know a lot about US politics but I know that bit was way off. I understand why he made it in regards to Trumps relationship with North Korea, but an an analogy it wasn't a good one. He made a zero emissions claim by 2025, which was obviously another gaffe. I felt though he was the one though trying to make his case whereas I felt Trump was responding more to Biden than outlining his own plans. Better than first debate, but still not a great advert for the US.

It's kind of true about Hitler. There was a big Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden, the majority wanted nothing to do with the war until Japan attacked and they also turned back European Jews who arrived on these shores trying to escape certain death. I wouldn't say they were friendly but they weren't all in. Nazi's also recieved a lot of financial backing from this country. And when the war was over they cherry picked their kind of nazi's to come and work over here.
