probably the worst tactic the GOP could pull. Obama voters that switched for trump switched because they hated hillary not obama. Biden is absolutely crushing it with Obama-Trump voters in polls.

4 years later and I still don't get why anyone would do that. How much hatred do you need to have for Clinton to think the guy that wants to nuke hurricanes and admits to taking a potentially fatal drug that he has no medical need for is the better candidate to run your country? It's just so stupid that I can't get my head around it.

The flaw in this thinking is it doesn't take into account that many people get more conservative as they get older (exactly what happened to the boomers) and many liberals lose the will to fight after fighting for 10-20 years. I had a friend that firmly believed in the 1990s that by 2020 the GOP would have returned to the being Teddy Roosevelt progressive which is a far cry from the far right ethnonationalism fo Trump because of "old conservatives dying off" (although Teddy himself hate "the injuns").

I'm already seeing this process play out with GenX people I went to school with. People I knew from high school and college who were "somewhat liberal" or "moderate-liberal" are now staunchly conservative GOP voters. People I knew that were "mildly conservative" turned into tea party supporters and rabid Trumpite nuts. Relying on this "old conservatives will die out" is something some people have been betting on since the 1980s and its not happening the way they think it will.

Mots people I know in the UK, Ireland and Australia have moved left since the 80's.

You really wouldn't let him handle sharp knives. He would probably accidentally decapitate himself. Or intentionally if someone told him it cured headaches.

No country has expanded in terms of the police state, mass incarceration like the US has since the 70s. Irrespective of who is in power, we have done little or next to nothing to recognize let alone address these issues.

If you take away the potential worldwide consequences of a trade (or actual:nervous:) war with china in a second trump term then in isolation the 2020 election campaign is going to be entertaining (in a rubbernecking kinda way) from a distance

To be fair I think its also likley that if the pandemic is under control by november and there are some positive signs of economic recovery in combination with the blame china, finish building the wall & draining the swamp / MAGAA (Make america great again AGAIN) and sleepy / creapy/ peado/ demented / corrupt Joe I think its going to be a close election again
Without CV19 I would have made trump favorite... as it stands now id say its fairly even and a lot will depend on how well biden can use the situation (im not holding out a great amount of hope)

Huh? No he couldn't. I mean he technically could, in that you could maybe figure out a scenario where Biden wins 100% of some states and Trump wins 51% of enough states to get to 270, but in reality it would never happen. It would be a massive landslide for Biden.
 
Whatever progressive credentials Warren had is now dead . Just another career politician looking out for themselves.
