Because absolutely nobody outside of elites have the ability to one shot purchase a house in a London suburb. For most people it's a pipe dream to even be able to cover the cost of a home there with a mortgage.

I was referring to with a mortgage. Eventually you'd own it. And people generally have other assets too. I honestly don't feel $2m qualifies as 'the elite.' Perhaps I'm out of touch.

Just now ? They are really cracking down aren't they.

Yep. Rejected my appeal within a minute and I had to delete the tweet to use Twitter again but I can’t tweet for 12 hours or like anything.

Net worth of the top 1% starts at 10m, apparently. Top 10% starts at a little over 1m. So 2m is upper class but short of elite, in my opinion anyway.

???? $2m is the value of a 3 bed semi in a London suburb. How would that net worth make you an 'elite' ?

Yes most people in the UK that live outside London would consider those who can afford a 3 bed semi in London to be very much out of touch with their struggles and priorities, and not someone who can claim to speak for them. So when he says he is not part of the elite, he is either being disingenous, or doesn't understand the point being made. Rich people on TV are not the voice of the people. They can remain very much in touch with the people's needs by speaking to them, and he is better than most of his peers on that channel, but how his children perceive the world is not the way most people do. The technical classification of an elite is much less important than the context the point is being made in. You will find many, many people that would have no problem calling millions of people in the US part of the elite, many of whom exist in the media, even if it doesn't meet a precise definition you're comfortable with.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy get in!!!!!!!

feck off trump you piece of shit.

Party time.

2 million worth in the US is not an elite. A senior doctor in the UK can be valued around the same figure.

It’s relative. 40% of American don’t have 500 in spare cash for an emergency. $2m is another world to them.

Extreme inequality has bred a massive perception gap and resentment.

How’s Arizona looking? Georgia and Arizona going blue would be a lovely way to finish Trump off.

On his golfing trip, Trump has claimed 18 hole in ones, but some Democrat bastards are replacing greens with bunkers.

Must be tens of thousands of elites in the London burbs then?

Of the 10 million people that live there? Sounds about right for a major city where the wealthy like to settle. Though I would wager that a sizable portion of them own their houses from long ago when they didn't cost anywhere close to the current buy price.

If it's satire, it's brilliant. If not, well, we might have found the first person with negative IQ.
It's being copied and pasted all over Twitter. Almost always by people with English football based user names and avatars for some reason. What's going on?

Looks like Biden's going to hang on to AZ after the latest ballots didn't give Trump the boost he was hoping for. GA still very much a toss up.

We had a lot of hot takes early one when results were coming in but whats the new overarching narrative now about Biden the candidate and the campaign he ran?
Overcoming the right wing media apparatus, concerns regarding his cognition to overthrow an incumbent and despite the enthusiasm gap an unprecedented popular vote.

Hearing that this is as much anti-Trump as anything but could a leftward leaning candidate like Bernie or Warren really have won? As much as the down ballot losses have been would it really have been better with more leftist candidates on the ticket?
