As you say, she was Trump before Trump - but nothing McCain did after losing that election indicated that he actually sympathized with the more Trumpian aspects of his running mate.
Seems that way. Though in a way I feel like it's also exaggerated a bit by the constant media attention from around the world. Saw the big riots in Spanish streets about covid measures for instance and that - when you take a step back - is a lot more troubling in a way then a few dozen nuts just shouting stuff.
