Donald Trump is in trouble in Florida, a state that’s crucial to his reelection hopes.

Just 40 percent of Florida voters said they believed the president should be reelected, while 53 percent were opposed to a second term, according to a new Bendixen & Amandi International poll.

Florida usually is the spanner in the works, but looks like it may finally do something good....if these polls can be trusted.

People who went to public schools, drive on public roads, and support the military are the same ones who hate anything resembling socialism.

In fairness thats just government spending rather than socialism. Without a state Capitalism couldn't function.

Although it seems like everything else in the US, the opposition to ''democratic socialism''(Basically the welfare state)is mostly down to cultural references. If you literally take away Bernie Sanders then the political debate in the US is who do you think should run the country - the people who watch Fox News all day or the people who watch CNN.

Medicare for all, tuition free college, tuition free vocational schools, etc are government spending. The conservatives have a fundamental disagreement with that but they are supporting other functions that essentially have the same government backing. Military is a great example: affordable housing, guaranteed jobs, free healthcare, affordable groceries, free gym use, plus more. We can’t do a portion of the same for our citizens considering the exponential wealth that is being generated in this country?

Yang's campaign is really gathering momentum.

Watching it very closely on Social Media, and not only he's nailed to have enough donors to be on the debate stage in June, he's also very funny and authentic in his engagement. He has that "cool" factor." and let's be honest, he's bringing up ideas that no other establishment candidate have even talked about.

Time to make a confession....I won a number of bets in 2015-16 betting on Trump to win primaries and elections because I closely followed the so called meme-war and people's enthusiasm om real life and was in the trenches at the time (living in NYC before election and on the day)....and I'm starting to feel some interesting and familiar vibes with Yang. While he may not go all the way like Trump did, there is certainly some interesting momentum behind his campaign. I think Andrew himself is still figuring out who his "base" are, but it's fascinating to watch in real life nevertheless.

and we all know how wonderful capitalism has worked out for ordinary Americans.
The problem is that the average ordinary American thinks that it has worked out great for them.

Tying in to something I posted on a different thread, but I had someone today tell me that if I thought it was wrong that health expense foreclosures were a thing here, to just tell people to pay a monthly minimum on a health bill and never fully pay it off. “That’s better than that European socialism”.

The Millennials get it.
Other than those who were adults during the cold war, the rest support Socialist programs like Universal health care and improving Social Security.

Bernie and Warren explain these policies.
Those who are stuck on 'Socialism' were never going to vote for Democrats anyway.
I understand Hickenlooper does not want to say he is a capitalist. Thats where the party is.

The person who said this to me was born in 2001. There’s a whole new generation of neo-cons waiting to graduate high school, too.

Its numbers.
There are far more people who support Socialism than Capitalism.
2018 was a rejection not just of Trump.
It was rejection of all that capitalism in its current form stands for.
Social Democracy stands for fairness in business.

When the debates start, the policy differences will come to light.

Another great interview on the Breakfast Club. Check out the comments, nothing but positive remarks, and I bet most commenting lean more Democrat. Go to his videos for Joe Rogan and Fox News where the people commenting lean right or Republican and they are positive about him too.

Not a huge fan but he's definitely got some good ideas. Maybe not for this go round but definitely one to watch for the future.

By the same notion shouldn't Bernie go away as he was beaten by the person who was beaten by a reality TV personality... Equally I guess the same applies to beto
No, because the primary and general election are two different audiences. Overlap, but different none the less. What Trump represented was a non-politician for folks who hated the generic politician that has led to dissatisfaction of the system. He's a fake populist, but that is what he ran on. Bernie was also not seen as the typical establishment politician and so that edge Trump had over Clinton wouldn't have been there.

This time around he and his base are more of a cult so who knows.

Yang I think has appeared more times on Fox than CNN

Fox likes him because he avoids criticizing Trump which gives him a bit of an apolitical aura. If he were to in any way gain political traction to where he gets anywhere near the nomination, you can bet the house the knives will be out about UBI, single payer etc.
