2018 Sheep Draft

Is it only senior national team caps for a European or South American country that make a player ineligible or do appearances for a European or South American national agegroup side make a player ineligible?

Also is country of birth going off modern day borders or what country owned the place they were born at the time they were born (i.e. are players who were born in European colonies prior to independence but never played for a European or South American national team eligible?)

Russia is in Europe.

Wow these youth team appearances are horrible. 2 players now I've thought were eligible have 1 u18 appearance

Yeah a lot of African players that have never played for a EUR/SA team have played youth football for some of them

Has Robben really ever had a Ballon Dor level season? I don't think so. If he runs into a well built 5-3-2, I'd probably always give the benefit to the opposition. His career has had highs but not consistently long enough (in a season, mostly due to injuries) or strong enough seasons raking in unbelievable numbers.

For a guy who apparently can cut in and score at the GOAT levels, not having any seasons with more than 20 odd goals in all competitions combined is really underwhelming. You will always remember his goals in this game and that, but never a season or competition. WC14 is an exception because of it being a short tournament.
I think Messi and Ronaldo era has made rating attackers all about goals, when there is a way more to what a winger should be doing . For example going by this criteria Figo shouldn't even be in the discussion. If you exclude Messi, he's definitely the best RW of his generation and has done it on the biggest stages. As a RW I would have him on the lower end of top 10 off all time.

Inverted wingers and traditional orthodox wingers are not comparable. Figo is a completely different thing.

Anyways, not trying to diss your player of course. I am a fan but not to the extent of calling him as an absolute elite. There have been better careers IMO. I can't name them obviously, maybe that is something for game threads.

Figo was never a traditional get down the byline and cross winger though either . He was a very good play maker who would come into central areas too. Of course Robben isn't on the level of Garrincha or Best, I would have him in the tier below, also I don't think anyone is arguing that either.

yup, if someone is looking for a gem to improve the team - can forget about it

Not a fan of the round. Should leave room for a few sneaks even if not in the top tier. Anyone who manages to pick a starter will have a bonus.

This seems like a punishment round since everyone is playing safe
