I'm actually relieved that the link player is already blocked. I'm certain that many have chosen him.
I think your interpretation is actually better than mine.
My understanding is that the link player gets blocked anyway and you only get to pick once. The two players you pick are the ones you get (or don't get depending on whether they result in FAILS.
The only question to me is what happens if multiple people have the same link player. If that pick is a FAIL are they:
1. getting sheep regardless.
2. getting their two players anyway if not blocked, or
3. allowed to repick the linked player as you suggest.
It's easy to understand.
Say you and me have same player X as link player (who is now blocked). We need to pick two players who have played with him at club level but not with each other. We both pick same players Y and Z and so we both fail. Now, we just need to pick a new set of two players same as earlier. Given X would have played with multiple players at club level over his career, you can obviously go for another option. If all three attempts fail, you get a sheep as usual. The link player however is frozen and blocked for all.
Oh right, got it. I misunderstood the post @MJJ made I think. Somehow I thought he meant you can find a different linked player who has played with the two players you picked. Sorry for all the noise.
Sorry nope, I wish that was the case as I am expecting two sheeps this round.
Only way I'm not getting sheep is if my link player has snuck through, which is highly unlikely
