In Germany they denied it and any classy club would! The 69 can't be removed from it's innuendo. I would take away the professionalism of the footballer and the club.
Lizerazu wore #69. I also remember seeing someone from rather average team, can't remember who it was, like some Portugese or French league .... in other sports it's pretty normal actually. My 'thing' with #69 is that I view it as a sort of abbreviation of 666999 and it's one of those 'weird' but good numbers that I like on a football shirt it looks right. Many double digit higher numbers just don't fit it, but I like seeing players with 66, 69, 88.... although I think it should be only top quality players or hot prospects and only a couple of those numbers given ....
