I'm going to spend my evening listening to all the shit in this thread I've never heard of.
Don't worry paul, all it means is that it's been a poor year for music. The best album of the year is the Arcade Fire one, and that's not even that amazing. Well it is, but it doesn't rescue the year as a whole. The Black Keys album is a good one too, but it's really par for the course for them and mad that it's possibly the second best album of the year. The Walkmen's album was good too, though I can't recall the name of it, likewise the Sufjan Stevens one. Laura Marling and Caitlin Rose both had really good alt country style albums but good in their own field rather than anything definitive. (Like most albums listed here I'd venture) The only act all year that raised my eyebrow was Janelle Monae, one or two of her tunes answered the question as to what would have happened if black american artists listened to Stax and Motown. Not my cuppa rosy exactly, but when it's good it's good, the production is fantastic (for anyone interested YouTube - Janelle Monáe - Tightrope [feat. Big Boi] (Video) I like a lady who can dance). I probably forgot a couple of sublime albums and made a tit of myslef.
Every year right?
Not you no, just someone each year there is a thread like this. No, do I give that impression?
Sigh No More - Mumford and Sons

Arguably one of my favorite albums ever. I love every single song on the album. Literally.
I listened to Waking Up all through finals week last spring and all through the summer and all through this current school year. It never gets old.
Eminem's Recovery is excellent and The Script's Science and Faith is notable, although their older album was better. Teenage Dream by Katy Perry has a few great songs. Mike Posner's 31 Minutes to Takeoff has to be mentioned if even only by the basis that he is a Duke alum.
EDIT: Just realized that Waking Up was released in November 2009 but my point stands nonetheless.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, my head hurts.
Mike Posner's sucked dick, he works best with Big Sean and like an idiot he didn't have him on the album at all!
Forgot to post in this earlier.
Mock & Toof - Tuning Echoes
The Backwoods - The Backwoods
LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
Lindström & Christabelle - Real Life Is No Cool
!!! - Strange Weather, Isn't It?
Shoeshine Boogie was one of my favorite songs of last year. Never managed to listen to the album. Guess I have to change that.
