ooooh look at me, I listen to music nobody has ever heard of! :smirk:

Not in order (except alphabetical):

Alter Bridge - ABIII
Avantasia - The Angel of Babylon/The Wicked Symphony
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time
Buckethead - Shadows Between the Sky
Freedom Call - Legend of the Shadowking
Gaslight Anthem - American Slang
Helloween - 7 Sinners
Iron Maiden - Final Frontier
Masterplan - Time to be King
Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One
Star One - Victims of the Modern Age

In no particular order;

Urban Hymns - The Verve
(What's the Story?) Morning Glory - Oasis
The Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Straight Outta Compton - NWA
Definitely Maybe - Oasis
Moseley Shoals - Ocean Colour Scene
Doggystyle - Snoop Doggy Dogg
Let it Be - The Beatles
Never Mind the Bollocks - Sex Pistols
Slider - T-Rex

Oasis shouldn't even be on a "best album on the day it was released" list.

The Best Coast album is nice, but disappointing compared to the amazing singles that preceded it (Sun Was High, Something in the Way, When I'm With You - still the three most played songs in my iTunes*).

* mainly because 1) the play count started right before I heard them for the first time, and 2) when I did, I was suffering from californiholism after a trip to San Francisco.

Of the mainstream stuff I'd go with:

1. The Suburbs (Arcade Fire)
2. Plastic Beach (Gorillaz)
3. The Age Of Adz (Sufjan Stevens)
4. Brothers (The Black Keys)
5. There Is Love in You (Four Tet)

On the top of my head and not in any order

Sleigh Bells - Treat
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Paul Weller - Wake Up the Nation
Black Keys - Brothers
LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening
Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz
Deerhunter - Halgyon Digest
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffity - Before Today
The National - High Violet

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Gaslight Anthem - American Slang
Miracle Bell - Light, Shape, Sound
Heathers - Here, Not There
Tired Pony -The Place We Ran From
Vampire Weekend - Contra
Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

Westlife - Gravity
JLS - Outta This World
Cheryl Cole - Messy Little Raindrops
Take That - Progress

Cmon, someone's gotta bite this

And non-mainstream ?

Some possibly less well known would be:
Alchemy (Erik Friedlander)
1 Inch / 1/2 Mile (Grasscut)
Lucky Shiner (Gold Panda)
Ivory Tower (Chilly Gonzales)
Ring (Glasser)

Add 'Teen Dream' by Beach House to my list, forgot about that one.

Same, even without clause 2.

But their music is something you have the hots for for a week or two or three, then you move on. I really have no clue as to what the best albums of the year are, but 2010 must have been a bit weak if BC is top ten.

I enjoy the end of the year-lists, though. That's when I actually check out the releases from the year that has passed. Reckon I'll discover one or two new bands/albums this time round too, amidst the hyped shite.

You're a strange one Nearco, Crystal castles and Xasthur

Pretty solid list though.

Baby Dee - A Book of Songs
Current 93 - Baalstorm, Sing Omega

I checked out Gold Panda, crikey that's some out there shit my man.

Like the Chilly Gonzales, I Am Europe is fun.

I'm gonna big up my man Baths.

Cracking vid too.

Yeah I'm the same weens out a lot of the 'trendy' bollocks, plus I find the more obscure albums are a little more difficult to download in the first few months.

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
Aloe Blacc - Good things
Belle and Sebastian - Belle And Sebastian Write About Love
Laura Marling - I Speak Because I Can
The National - High Violet
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
Peau - Première mue
Harper Simon - Harper Simon

Some good alums I've got around to listening to.

Im only just managing to catch up on everything I missed in 2009 - I havent really got a clue about much of what happened musically in 2010.

Flying Lotus was good though and this is worth a mention:

Was Slash's album any good then? I just assumed it'd be rubbish.

Some good moments. Fergie's song was surprisingly good, and Lemmy's is fun.

Then Iggy Pop's is so bad it almost ruins the entire album.

The National - High Violet
No Age - Everything in Between
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Bob Dylan - The Wittmark Demos
Beach House - Teen Dream
The Walkmen - Lisbon
Darkstar - North
Sleigh Bells - Treats

Struggling to think of 10.

Janelle Monae - The Archandroid
Wax Tailor - in the mood for life (only released here in 2010)
Wolf Gang - back to back

now im stuck

There was a new Wax Tailor album? Will have to go and seek that out ...

Poor year for music really, didn't like the new Gorillaz, Placebo or Interpol albums much.

The Suburbs was far and away the years best album, it's a modern fecking masterpiece in my eyes.

Two Door Cinema Club were a nice surprise too.

I can't think of much else, High Velvet from The National, and Broken Side of Time from Alberta Cross were both pretty good.

Wolf People - Steeple

if you like psychedelic bluesy folk rock then this is the one for you.

heres a sample of it live.
