2008 Toyota International Rules Series

Just noticed the replay for the first Irish goal. The goalie made a howler in coming out.

At the end of the day, our brickies and accountants were more than a match for you overpaid prima-donnas!

It's not like they played their best team. Not sure about the Irish though.

Good point made by RTE pundits - the pressure was on today to play a clean game, we'll see more Brown-esque moments next week. Not sure our lads can match that.

To be honest that was a perfectly legal hip-and-shoulder, well at least it is in our code. He'd be commended for blocking out an opponent for Harvey to collect the ball.

It's just that they were both running at speed that it seemed bad.

He (Bock) had a terrible game, I think he'll be alot more used to the position come next Friday.

Our club championships (the very basic level of competition) are at an important stage, a good few players are committed to their domestic games. Add to that the number of injuries, and you couldn't say it's our full strength squad.

Straight red in our games.

I'm off home for the weekend lads. Back online sunday night. Nice one again, Cesc.

Geesh, it's absolutely PISSING down over there... Great that it held off for the game.

Excellent stuff lads - thanks very much - 2 proper Gents

Special mention to Cesc - fair play mate with trying to get us Irish lads hooked up on Stream & for the very balanced views of the game - top bloke :)

Off up North now - have a great weekend lads & chat to ya's on Tues - its a bank holiday in Eire - get fecking in there - ooooohhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :D

Have a good one mate.

Savour this, for next week our boys will be a lot more used to the style of play.

A thumping is inevitable.

;)

I enjoyed that, excellent tempo about the game. It was hard to get behind Australia after the way our boys carried on during the last series though.

That 6'6 Irish bloke would be a star in our game. An 80 goal a season forward as a minimum. I know they're passionate about their Gaelic footy over there and it's presumptuous to suggest that they're all queuing up to try their hand at Aussie Rules, but he could be making 500k a year if he'd been recruited at an early age.

Although with the current exchange rate, that'd probably be just about enough to get him a second hand car in Ireland.

Kieran Donaghy - his nickname is "Star". He's an excellent basketball player aswell!

The thing about the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) is that its amateur, so pride, excellence & community is the drive for the players of all Gaelic games. Plus us Irish lads cant hack the heat, so feck living in Oz & gettin roasted (not in the Stan Collymore sense) - bring the rain :)

The other thing about Gaelic players not trying their hand at Aussie Rules is that we see our game as better game - not meaning to sound offensive but i wouldnt swap our game for the Aussie one. The Hybrid game is a great game though!!

Allow me to paraphrase:

get your grubby mitts off of our players!!

Looks like I have a driving lesson tomorrow morning that I can't rearrange. I'm gutted at not being able to see the match. Any other Irishman wanna carry the torch in terms of reporting it and stopping cesc getting too carried away with his bias...?

C'mon Ireland and beat those Aussie shite-bags tomorrow ;)

Shite-bags eh? Haha.

Can't be doing my match commentary because we've got a delayed telecast down here in Melbourne, the first quater just wrapped up. Though obviously the third's just finished at the 'G.

Wish I was fecking there, was awesome a last time were down here.

Haha, I thought I was quite level-headed last week!

You were indeed - and an absolute gent in the process

Whats the craic man - some game eh?!

Been good so far, but that's cos we're leading (;)) - though I saw you guys were up at 3qt time - and some pitch invaders have just run onto the field, there's goes 6 grand - We've only got it on delayed telecast down here, it's obviously live everywhere else.

GREAT goal from McGinnly (sp?) in the second quater. Great bork/side-step to get past the defender.

Just heard Ireland won. Great win for your lot boys, 2-zip and total points win... Don't think any side's done that on the enemie's turf in a few years.

Cheers for the congrats Cesc - great series in many respects & no violence which was the most important factor for the survival of the game!

Great for Seany Cavanagh. He's had a tremendous year for County Tyrone & as Captain of Ireland he's brought home the trophy named after his friend Cormac McAnallen & football legend in the making, who died tragically from heart failure!

Roll on next year
