100 corners, no goals. Edit: 140 corners, 1 goal. 152 corners, 2 goals.

The 6th corner tonight versus Burnley was our 100th corner this season. Yes I’ve been counting :(

No goals! Zero. Nada.

Will we ever score from a corner again?
Our Set Pieces are atrocious, we must be the worsts team in the entirety of English Football for Set Pieces. With the players we have this should be a strength, also makes you laugh that Maguire scores for fun for England but couldn't head the ball on target for us if his life depended on it.

Utterly ridiculous stat. Set piece coach must be sacked on the spot for this and someone new brought in. I swear anyone will do better than this.

The poor record on corners goes a long way back beyond the current totally barren spell.
Up until this season started, we’ve scored from something like only 3 corners in PL. games, in 3 seasons.
This season zero.

It’s the way we set up, by crowding in front of goal, dragging in the opposition in numbers.
Little or no room for attacking the ball with headers and no space for any shots to get through a wall of players.
What chance of shooting through a crowd of 14 players plus a keeper?
Nobody appears to be tasked with dragging defenders away by making runs and clearing space and 9 times out of ten, potential target men are starting from a flat footed position.
Positioning of players just outside the box to pick up on clearances and prevent counter attacks is piss poor too
It’s pub league standard at best.

Most top clubs play a short corner the majority of the time, which gives a couple of extra seconds for a lot more attacking movement in the box.

.

…or issue Fellini wigs to all our taller players.
Some pink, orange or bright purple, just to confuse the opposition.
Those wigs should be all red, as a show of confidence and strength.

Generally speaking, would it be allowed to play with a wig? Quite apparently it is allowed to coach with one.

Savo Milosevic used to wear bandana when he signed for Villa. Not quite the same, but...

Regarding our terrible record - it's not just the fact that Bruno and the others can't get the ball past the closest defender, the problem is that it often leaves acres of space to the opponent for a counter-attack.

Bruno is such a good player it beggers belief how often he cant clear the first man, it is so bizarre. Telles has a decent cross on him I'd just give them to him.

Haha yeah Bruno is a strange one! It’s like he doesn’t practice them.

It's getting a bit embarrassing now. Brentford were quite happy putting the ball out knowing nothing would come of it from our corners.

A corner for us is never a good thing. We hit the first man a good 70% of the time. It gets headed out and we get countered on. It's been happening all season and we still haven't worked out a way to stop it. I'd far rather us to never get a corner.

The commemorative compilation video that comes out after we finally score is going to sell like hotcakes. Imagine getting to see each and every precious failed attempt before that ultimate success and payoff.

EDIT: Also, it'd be just our luck if Chelsea, after losing The Set Piece Guy to us, lead the league in goals from corners.

The dude was their U23 assistant coach. Somehow, we hired him as our "set-piece expert" for the senior team.

A corner for United is a glorified free kick for the other team.

We need to sack our set piece ‘specialist’ ASAP. I read that the guy is 29 years old, not one to judge on age but highly doubt he has the experience or know how to be a specialist. The proof is in the pudding anyway and he is serving up dog crap.

But he got PhD and license!!

Especially since we only seem to have one corner routine. Belt it into the near post as hard as possible and watch as one of the four opposition giants stationed there head it away.

We're a big side, lob it in the mixer and let the big lads attack it.

That Varane header was the one, great corner from Telles.

There’s Liverpool’s 9th goal from a corner in the league this season. Scoring from them for fun. Yet we can’t even get a shot at the goal?

Tbh a part of me wishes we won't score a single goal from corner this season. So this would go down in history and I bet this record will stand for eternity.

At some point a defender will surely feck up and we'll score. Has any journalist asked Rangnick about this yet? I'm sure he's aware of it but I wonder what, if anything, he's doing to solve it.

What's the record for number of corners without a goal from them?

Just think how many more games we will win when we finally start scoring from corners and set pieces too. It must be a major factor in our bad results.

Simple things like what Fabinho does is what we're not street wise to. Liverpool's wasn't a great ball in but VVD being able to get a free run on it makes the goal

You'd think part of this set piece coach's job would be to make us better at blocking defending players etc? Obviously not

It's even more baffling since we have a decent number of players who are good in the air. In theory Ronaldo, Cavani, Maguire, Varane, Matic, Pogba and McTominay all have the height and/or aerial ability to threaten.

I really think delivery is an issue as we keep hitting the first man. Really don't see why we don't try just lofting it onto the penalty spot and let the players fight to win the header. We always try to put some power into the corners and it's just not working.

It annoys me when we get corners because I know we won't score. It annoys me when other teams score from corners because I think why can't we do it. There are no corners in Gaelic Football. The only answer is a free shot at goal from 45 yards out.
