100 corners, no goals. Edit: 140 corners, 1 goal. 152 corners, 2 goals.

It's our delivery mainly. I'd say at least 50% of our corners don't even clear the first man

Please let us dissect this properly:

I have been thinking seriously, is it a problem of deliveries or conversion. I know Luke is good with corners and I know Telles has a diamond of a left foot. Bruno too is an option when needed.

Personally I think the problem comes from connecting to those balls delivered or don’t we practice corner kicks in training?

I wonder what the record is for most corners in a season until a team’s first goal?

I remember when we signed Bruno, he assisted Maguire at Chelsea and we thought our set pieces were all sorted for the forseeable.

Poor delivery and lack of aerial threats. Very few of our players are good at heading and willing to put their bodies where it hurts. Compare to a team like West Ham it's night and day.

Made it onto Sky Sports

Well it is now 100 plus and rising, really no excuse from either players or coaching staff for this.

Feels like our set pieces have been bad for years now but they've somehow gotten even worse

I get sad when we get corners. You just know it's a loss of possession and risk for a counter.

That new set-piece coach really earning his money. Just the latest example of United's exceptional recirument policy.

Incredible that when we do eventually score from a corner, our conversion rate will be less than 1 %

That's shocking.

I bet 90 out of those 100 never made it past the first defender at the near post.

Basically me on FIFA then.

it's a sad stat especially with CR7, one of the best headers or a ball in the world at our disposal :(

I don't get how a team gets to 100 corners without a goal. Surely at 50 am the manager says "you're hopeless at taking corners, all corners now have to be taken short" although inevitably we'd lose possession moving the ball side to side.

Ask our new set-piece coach who got hired this past summer. He'll probably have an answer.

He's only ever been a youth team assistant coach except at Shrewsbury, I believe. He got hired as our first team set-piece coach based on glowing recommendations from his college mate, McKenna.

We’re terrible at most things, why would our corner kicks be any different?

nope we took him from chelsea, but was working with their u23s i believe

Credit where it's due, that's actually quite the achievement. You'd think we'd nearly score one by accident but nope.

A player who has progressed to be able to playin any premier league side should not require a coach to teach him how too strike a dead ball so that it lifts beyond the first defender into a penalty area.

Are we talking about Ed and Arnold here?

Bruno consistently runs over to take corners and I can’t remember when he last beat the 1st man.

Telles can put a decent ball in, but doesn’t always start.

You’d think a team that has Maguire, Varane, Ronaldo, Matic and Mctominay in would at least score 1 goal from a corner.

It really feels like we would be better off just treating a corner like a throw in close to the corner flag.

Don't bring everyone into the box and just play it short to try and build up play to create a shooting opportunity.

Astonishing given we have Bruno and Telles, two of the best crossers you could find. Cavani and Ronaldo, two of the best headers you could find. And Mctominay, Maguire and Varane who are pretty much walking titans. Oh yeah, almost forgot our newly appointed set peace specialist. Incompetence FC strikes again.

This would make quite a DVD compilation.

Given that Shaw and Bruno have taken the vast majority of them I'd just bin them from it for now and try something else.

It's really hard to understand how nobody in our team filled with superstars can deliver the ball past the first man from the corner. So frustrating knowing that the absolute best you can hope from a corner is to not get countered...

I still think the lack of run up space due to the narrow run offs hinders us with these.

For instance look at Gallagher's corner at 2 mins in here:

The best way to take corners is like that, initially high at a good pace, and then it dips and swings away from the defenders. It makes it very hard for the defenders to clear it, whereas the attackers can can get good power on the header quite easily due to the flight of the ball. Also allows time for the attackers to set themselves vs low, fast corners.

As you can see in that video, Gallagher takes a fairly long run up, which wouldn't be possible at Old Trafford. Of course there are loads of players who don't need the long run up, but the lack of space at OT probably doesn't help. But again it's probably another issue with our poor coaching more than anything.

What’s happened to Bruno’s crossing? I remember the corner he took against Chelsea when Maguire scored a header, that wasn’t long after we signed him. Telles should be on set piece duty’s, he’s got a decent cross in him. Think we only have 2 set piece takers in the team and that’s telles and Bruno, even though Shaw takes a lot of corners.

I used to hate short corners, but now I welcome them. Hell at this point i wouldn't mind if we punted it back to De Gea and started from there.

This is going to be like when we waited seasons to win a CL tie on away goals.

Itll happen when we least expect it in injury time and we win the game as a result.

Amazing that we get this new set piece coach and we're even worse than before he arrived (and we were bad attacking or defending them then as well)

We also don’t score from corners away.

Do they practice taking them at Old Trafford?

Maybe at Carrington they are flying in!
