Álvaro Morata | Performances

There is nothing wrong, you're just seeking attention. Like somebody is going to reward you for "getting it right". I just find it weird.

It’s no more attention seeking than your assertion about me attention seeking. As I said, it’s his performance thread and I commented on him doing well, then pulled some posts about him about me having a feeling he’d do well because I’m happy he’s doing well and I like him, i was validating my own opinion. I even put em under spoilers because I know how hostile and sensitive things can get. Don’t mind me.

I don’t think lukaku is doing badly. He has played every minute of the PL and we scored 35 goals so we aren’t doing badly with him upfront. His ‘lack of general play’ (as I said in his thread too I think) is overrated. Him and lingard linking up for the third goal was beautiful.

I don’t think any of them (lukaku morata) are playing badly. Lacazette is ok but doesn’t convince me as much. Something about him that’s off

Considering that this isn’t some sort of an exam Where you being validated gets you brownie points, I don’t really see any point of you bringing up your own posts for no reason.

No more Look at Me! and off-topic posts, please - Morata is a Chelsea player and this is a performance thread for the current season. Wrt. Lukaku, any comparisons or observations should be made in the Lukaku vs Morata thread.

Thanks! :)

No one deserves credit for noticing the obvious. That Morata was built for EPL football

Exactly. Not really surprising all things considered.

My bad  it's just so hard not to respond at times :wenger:

He's a quality player. Never understood those who criticised him when we were interested. His lack of game time at Madrid wasn't because he wasn't up to standard.

It's quite easy to look at his stats in Italy and think 'he can't be that good'.

Obviously did better last season but still, not like he's been particularly prolific for a striker that we were potentially spending £70m+ on.

His allround game is a lot more than goals though it must be said.

Precisely. Those people who have said he wasn’t good enough simply hadn’t wat he’s him play. There’s perfectly reasonable explanations as to why he hadn’t scored shed loads of goals, but context was ignored.

It says in the BBC article that he prolonged his celebration.

Ridiculous decision. Why is that celebration not allowed?
Because it was the last seconds of the game and Bournemouth wanted the ball back. He was stupid trying to milk it.

Suspended for celebration ? Feck sake.

One of the most ridiculous decisions by FA ever.

FA? He got a yellow for an excessive celebration which happened to be his fifth yellow of the season and therefore a one match ban. It's not like the FA have suspended him retrospectively.

Oh so it's just a 5th yellow ? I thought he was suspended for celebration only.

Sorry, FA.

Another typical header from an Azpi cross. That combo is deadly and Morata is proving himself to be a top signing. United got the wrong man in Lukaku.

Edit: Nevermind, somebody locked the thread so now the comparisons will be in the individual performance threads again.

That's just 1 element though, wouldn't say he's a better finisher than Costa and Costa's more powerful, bullied defenders more and was an all-round cnut. I think a lot of defenders would prefer coming up against Morata than Costa.
On the other hand, Morata is more composed and team-oriented in his interpretation of the lone striker role. Better chemistry with Hazard too, imo. Costa had these buffalo tendencies, choosing the wrong moments for trying to break through several defenders, committing more unnecessary turnovers as a result. Also a red card waiting to happen (but he somehow got away with a ridiculous amount of offenses).

I think Conte is quite satisfied with the more reliable and manageable Morata, although he clearly has to adapt further to the physicality of the English game.

I mean according to Caf logic with Lukaku, Morata has just demonstrated how he can never play for a top club.

Anyone can miss easy chances, but it's infuriating watching him throw himself to the ground at the slightest of touches.

Misses them far too often. Great in the air, mediocre at other finishing.

Would still rather him than Rom.

Imagine that, he misses chances, I for one am shocked.

But he will continue to be redcafe darling.

He's much better than Lukaku don't ya know. He's like a Drogba / Messi hybrid while we got the donkey.

Yup. He's such a quality, he's incredible really, even when he misses sitters he does it with exquisite quality.
I wont talk about our rich man's Emile Heskey.

Don't think either are at the level you'd want for the main striker for a team that wants to win the title. Not as the main striker in a one up top system.

Fair comment BR but we need to get to that level first.
