Perfect. Much more likely to get a result if they leave the backdoor open rather than shut up shop.
Mentioning Young Boys leaving the backdoor open is threading dangerous ground my friend.

Young Boys to keep the back door open…you’re brave and grossly overestimate the maturity of the cafe.

Wait, wait, wait, hold the phone, we're playing Young Boys? At Wankdorf?

Seiously, that's some next level upfeckery right there. I mean, wow.

Sounds like some sick twisted version of Hogwarts.

just some shocking stuff and they are absolutely taking the piss with the name Wankdorf....you know someone was having a good laugh coming up with that

I think we really should school these young boys (G rated joke):

    Sancho Martial Greenwood
    Bruno - Donnie
Fred (or matic if not avail)
    Shaw Lindelof Maguire AWB
    Henderson

Subs: CR7, Pogba, Varane, De Gea, etc

We'll play the strongest available players. Only change I'm seeing is Fred/VDB in for Matic. Get a good lead then use the 5 subs.

Any chance Ole can announce the team tonight so I don’t have to read “ Need to rotate “ or “we should start Lindelof “ :wenger:

But you can’t create Varane/Lindelof partnership if you don’t play them together :)

Besides - and with all due respect to our captain - Varane is probably a better player, so it is Maguire who should be the main competitor for Lindelof with regards to playing time, not Varane.

It would be interesting to see how Varane and Lidelof work together, maybe they complement each other better than Maguiere - Lindelof?

Just watched Ole's presser. Are we playing on astroturf? In the Champions League? I don't understand how that's allowed to happen. Now I'm not really expecting a football match, but some perverse form of one.

Yeah, it's not winning me over. I'm actually hoping we just manage the game well, not too fuzzed about how we perform, just avoid injuries and maybe rest Ronnie.

Cannot believe UEFA doesn't realise this massively detracts from the quality of the game (and I thought it was only Europa that was cursed with clubs who do this), increases the risk of injuries, and favours the home team more than normal who are used to this shite.

I reckon they've done their due diligence on it. From the looks of it, it is going to behave more naturally than older types of artificial turf.

The risk of injuries from these surfaces is a lot less than it used to be. It wouldn't be in the company's interest to put out a product that increases the risk of injury to athletes.

I don't think the difference will be enough to allow Young Boys to have significant advantage over Manchester United.

Oh please attack us. Commit 10 men forward and charge at us like never before. Please.

Admittedly, I cannot speak conclusively about injury risk (although significant changes in playing conditions can obviously exacerbate that) and this pitch may not be the hell that was Alkmaar's pitch, but as far as I'm concerned, you're no longer watching real football when it's played on those pitches.

Ole also mentioned that it favours the opponent's who are used to the pitch.

Is it back to max 3 subs now in the CL?

Full strength team. This is the Champions League, no fecking about here.

Can oy see a max of two changes here. Thought De Gea might be rotated out for the CL group stage but he was at the presser so he's starting. Fred will come in for Matic, and Martial and/or Van We Beek might get at start, but that's it.

Ole isn’t going to rotate much in game week 1. He is going to play the strongest XI. We need to beat the easiest team in the group twice so we can get 6 easy points. We need to get off to a good start in the group.
