I'm almost certain @rimaldo got lost in Wankdorf once

urban myth shrouded in some truth. i caught parts of a conversation with some fellow united supporting mates who were mentioning things like “it’ll be great….see the sights…watch young boys… get wankdorf…” i passed out and by the time i came to there was no plane tickets left.

Would give Dalot Fred and Lindelof a start here. Sancho hopefully can get a goal or two in this game.

I hate the name Young Boys. You always have to qualify that you’re bragging about a football match and not a pedo.

I guess it's to do with the fact it's not exactly a blockbuster, but still. I just hope it's not a regular thing. There's another game tomorrow that kicks off at the same time as well.

As for Cavani, I know he had a knock on Saturday hence why he missed the game. But Ole said he may be ready for the game tomorrow. Haven't read anything else on it. Is he definitely missing this game, too?
Yh just says 'minor' injury but I'd also seen he was fit previously so must be new.

When is the Manager's presser scheduled for?

Just because Maguire and Lindelof already have a partnership. Would't be against Varane / Lindelof either.
But you can’t create Varane/Lindelof partnership if you don’t play them together :)

Besides - and with all due respect to our captain - Varane is probably a better player, so it is Maguire who should be the main competitor for Lindelof with regards to playing time, not Varane.

    Young boys in wankdorf

    Did someone mention young boys?

I think Ronaldo should start but be subbed off after around 60 minutes. He needs game time, Ole even confirmed after the Newcastle game that he didn't sub him because he needed the full 90. When he has some more minutes under his belt for us we can start to rotate him.

It wouldn’t be a new football season without young boys getting a seeing to…by a vastly superior team.

    In my opinion:

    DDG
    Dalot Varane Maguire Shaw
    Fred - Pogba
    Sancho Bruno Lingard
    Ronaldo

Kill the game off early and sub off Bruno, Ronaldo, Pogba, Sancho, and Shaw for Donny, Martial, Matic, Greenwood, Lindelof. We shouldn't be making too many changes, 3 changes or 4 max from weekend is enough.

Think we have enough firepower to win this without Ronaldo, Pogba, Bruno and Varane. Knowing Ronaldo though, he'll want to play.

Would be a good game to give Lindelof some minutes, I do not rate him, but the way Varane's playing Lindelof might never start again, so this would be a good game for him to play.

Is Telles injured? Might give him a run in place of Shaw as well. I want Sancho to start though, he looked sharper vs Newcastle and this might be a good game for him to start shedding the shackles. Martial too.

I disagree they are both different skill sets. For example Maguire is a good defender, Lindelof is not.

I hope we don't treat this as a game to try over rotate - even if there is quality, that will lead to disjointed performance. We can muck around when qualification is guaranteed. Last year the dropped points in Turkey cost us big time. Get the points in the bag and then sub players that need minutes.

DDG, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, Pogba, Bruno, Martial, CR7 and Greenwood. Or maybe Lingard in place of Martial.

Get VDB and Sancho on once the points are secure hopefully.

Rotate a bit, but not too much.

    DDG
    Dalot - Maguire - Lindelof - Shaw
    Fred - VDB
    Sancho - Lingard - Martial
    Ronaldo

Maguire has been our worst defender so far this season so it would make sense to rest him and let him feel he’s not guaranteed to start every game. However if Ole rests one of Varane /Maguire I’m sure it’s going to be Varane as he’s more “fragile”.

yeah I don't know why teams don't do this more often instead of being a sub that you can bring on.

We're not playing the hammers till Sunday anyway so about 60 minutes for Ronaldo just so he gets more accustomed to Man United is not a bad idea.

That said, I love that we have the option of giving him a rest and having Cavani play.

Don't mind this. Maybe Varane for maguire just for a but of recovery pace at CB. But not bothered either way

I assume we’ll be playing in our home kit (red, white and white) aren’t they like wolves/watford? Yellow, black and yellow?

After dropping stupid points last season away from home, we have to take the 3 points tomorrow so we should start our strongest XI which is probably the exact same group that played on the weekend.

Except, i'd swap Matic for Donny and maybe Bruno for Lingard. With 4 days rest before we play against Wet Spam on the weekend, we should be able to play enough quality players to win the match.
