I've been surprised by the subs, tbh.

I was hoping we'd initially bring Varane on for Sancho, and move Lindelof to RB. And maybe Matic for VDB to play alongside Fred - with Pogba, Ronaldo and Fernandes left to attack. Then switch some of them for the likes of Greenwood and Lingard later in the game.

I didn't expect us to completely nullify our attacking threat and look to cling on for 1-0, then 1-1.

It was a difficult situation, but I really don't think the right calls have been made.

Pogba is brilliant in the last 3rd. But he's useless in a 2 man midfield he can't defend and doesn't have the work rate.

Yeah seems Martial on for Ronaldo would have been a better sub.
He started on the left though, sometimes he just holds onto the ball for too long regardless of his position, feels like a cop out to me to blame it on a two man midfield.

Lingard and Matic? Weird subs again, i would have thrown Elanga, a risk yes but he has the nack. It baffles me that since the 35th min, we have done nothing, YB have destroyed us, 10 men or not. Ole needs to grow up with his game play, his basic thinking needs to improve.

elanga doesn't have the experience necessary to make the right decisions. crazy take

Ronaldo showing more desire on the sidelines than most of our players, and Ole

17 attempt on goal against us. That's beyond dreadful even with 10 men

Ole is absolutely terrible at making in game tactical changes. This is why he’ll never win a trophy, doesn’t matter how good his team is.
He is the management equivalent of Fred on this showing. Ronaldo did not look happy being subbed.

No wonder our players are cowardly given how cowardly the manager is

So our attackers are down to J Lingz and Pogba.... I know Ronaldo doesn't track back but

We aren't winning this the panic and lack of control is shocking and something that needs dealing with as we are far too prone to this

If he was bringing on Verane why not do that instead of Dalot? And save Dalot until later if we've got a lead going into the last 10 minutes or so

and now the cowardly shouts start up, ffs this place is terrible.

He should’ve come on. Ronaldo shouldn’t have gone off.
I think taking Ronaldo off was the right decision, but taking Bruno of as well was the wrong call. Greenwood and Lingard should have come on for Pogba and Ronaldo, in my humble opinion.

This is a really bad performance. I don’t expect us to dominate with a man down, but this is actually really bad. We can’t do anything?

Clearly, the stupid Norwegian fecker told AWB to get sent off and then to make sure we flopped he had a word in Pogba's ear about playing like Bambi on ice and don't get me started on Ole insisting on laying that artificial pitch.

I was about to have a go at you for calling Ole a stupid Norwegian fecker but I realised what you were doing

not suprising....never easy to win a match playing with 10 let alone on the road in a european champions league match

Exactly this. YB are well up for this on their home AstroTurf, with their crowd back and against a Man Utd, going down to 10 gave them an extra boost as well. Was never going to be easy, a point would be a good result if we make it that far

Whatever happens it is a crazy decision. Ronaldo off. Did he see Ronaldo in the final mins of Portugal's game against Ireland. His decision making doesnt make sense. At all

Portugal had 11 men and were rolling over Ireland.

We have 10 men, playing on a pitch that has a massively different feel to it than normal grass. It cant be overstated how high the advantage is to the home team here (Altho I expect the Caf to tell me that doesnt matter because everyone is angry atm)

We can't keep possession so Ronaldo is left alone. Lingard, bless his soul, has completely fresh legs and can go on a break.

As Sir Alex once said, just make sure you win your home games. If we can come away without defeat here then it isn’t the end of the world. Wan Bissaka fecked up, it happens.

Wait both Bruno and Ronaldo are off? Thought it was just Ronaldo wtf
Bruno is a nightmare is scenarios like this to be fair. Trying first time back heels to nobody when we just need someone to control the ball and keep it.

if you've got the better team and go down to ten men you have to keep the ball as much as possible. commit the opposition to you and then release the ball to a team mate. you need a conservative and tidy passer on the pitch. your Carricks, your Scholes', your herreras, your matics. First move is to take off pogs and fernandes. leave on dvb and sancho is your outlet. then at the death bring on an additional runner to chase down the opposition. I dont understand what oles done here
He's taken off dvb and gone five at the back, completely giving up possession. Time wasting the whole half. It's sad that after all this time, this is the best we can muster with 10 men against a Swiss team.

Some of you lot need to seriously calm down. I feel we could be doing a lot better and have my doubts about Ole but some of the vitriol on here is ridiculous.

Consider the circumstances: 1 we're 1-0 up, away from home in CL encounter, a hostile atmosphere and down to 10 men.

Are you really surprised to see the manager take the pragmatic option?
There’s pragmatic, and then there’s handing the game over to the opposition. Ole has done the latter here. That sub at half time completely surrendered the game. We’re not playing Bayern Munich or PSG.

We're playing with 10 men for 60mins plus and people are having the gall to have a go at Ole and the team for not battering a Swiss team. The sheer arrogance on display in this thread knows no bounds.

Nobody is suggesting we should be battering them, but we don’t have anything in this game whatsoever. If Chelsea can play competitively against Liverpool with 10 men without taking a cowards way out we sure as hell should be able to do it against the damn Young Boys with our squad, come on ffs.

Just need to eek out a draw. Lose or draw it isn’t the end of the world but mentally I guess the team will feel better that they held on with 10.
