I'd have given Pogba a rest against these lot but ok. We should see some goals in this one with Pogba, Bruno and Sancho feeding the GOAT.

This season’s away kit is truly hideous. But in its defense, it’s a major upgrade over last season’s shambolic zebra kit. So we’re at least on the right track and hopefully next season we’ll a fantastic away kit.
Really? I love the away kit. One of my favourites in a long time.

I get the rotation piece but don't see why Varane would rotate out for a CL match unless he wants him fresh for West Ham and Lindelof will play against WH in the cup match.

DVDB gets a start, I don't know what I expect of him (knowing he is what he is) but for his sake I hope he impresses. Otherwise he will be riding the bench most of the season with an odd game in League or FA cup.

I think this lineup is mostly about keeping players happy. Lindelof and VDB are big names who need minutes or else they might start to get pissed off. But Greenwood and Matic are young/old enough to take it on the chin.

If it was simply about resting players, there are some obvious first teamers who could have been left out.

This XI is as strong as Ole can make it, whilst still balancing his man management responsibilities.

Form a prayer circle for Donny.
The words prayer circle gives me jitters. Always reminds me of this

To the VDB fanboys or those who claim he is being harassed, can you please make up your mind if VDB is playing in the right position tonight. That's a constant excuse I keep seeing on this forum. That he is not being played in his best position. I am not even sure what that is.

Having said that, hoping that VDB will have a cracking game wherever he plays.

Not a fanboy by any means. But yes he is where he needs to be tonight for sure. No excuses for him against this opposition with Pogba dropping into midfield to link up. Will be a very interesting and hopefully very entertaining watch.

    Good lineup.

Lindelof is more than capable of subbing for Varane, and good to keep Varane fresh for the league.
Ronaldo hasn't played enough to need resting yet, though i hope he doesn't do the full 90.
If DVB can't seize the opportunity in this team, against this opposition, he never will. Not an exaggeration to say this is the game that will define his career.
Sancho on the right where he should be.

    De Gea
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred DVB
    Sancho Bruno Pogba
    Ronaldo

If you can't see how the treadmill post is light hearted shite then more fool you baby cakes  I'm not frothing at the mouth over any of this.
Of course I realise it was light-hearted, "baby cakes", but reacting to a player even you know is first backup getting a start with "pure gutted" isn't much better than "ugh why he drop Varane?!"

Interesting to see Elanga making the bench.

Maybe Ole is not convinced that Maguire-Varane, despite allowing us to push forward, can keep a clean sheet - hence Varane dropped for Lindelof. Varane has been shaky over the last year and was at fault for the Newcastle goal after all. Wouldn't be surprised if Lindelof starts against West Ham as well.

    Bite.

How is Dalot not playing in this match? Damn, I was sure he'd get some minutes

    Dammit.

3 changes but still a very strong side. I hope VDB has a brilliant game and cements a place in the starting lineup on a consistent basis.

    Damn. You nearly got me.

Reasonable changes, thankfully not many. Surprised hes starting VdB over Lingard but think its a good call, shows just how little Lingard is going to play this season.

So long as it's not the return of the narrow diamond. Pogba and Sancho should be on the wings, DVB alongside Fred.

We can’t expect anything from DvDB today, he needs at least 5 starts in a row before you can assess his performance.

What, are you serious ? Jesus, the Caf.

    Bite back

Why the feck is Varane dropped? He did better than Maguire.

Sancho is apparently down the right today with Pogba left
Because he's not 100% yet. Deschamps left him out of one of France's games last week for that reason. Why all the drama? This is what rotation is for.

fecking hell, I just saw that bait after SoCross quoted you, saving me from being embarrassed. Was about to go off on a rant :D.

Or an unconventional 4-4-2? Sancho and GOAT up top and the other 4 in midfield?

Fair enough. It’s a funny thing how the same kit can elicit such different reactions.

How about last season’s zebra kit?
Was awful. 2018/19 home kit was my least favourite home kit I've seen from us, last seasons zebra kit probably my least favourite away.

Hopefully we throttle them so Mason can get on early enough for his pound of flesh.

Really hope Donny (and the team obviously) puts in a good display today.

Interesting team. Probably the slowest line-up we've picked in quite a long time, right?
