Also saying he could have stayed in his feet. As if he knows what Donny felt. Studs on ankle is no butterfly kiss.
It's this kind of thinking by commentators and I guess by refs that force players to go down when there is contact as that's the only way they will get the decision.
A foul is an illegal contact by a player on an opposing player. Whether that throws him to the ground or not should not matter.

    I mean...really? (sarcasm inside)

I mean a lot of people want him already gone. I myself thought it might be best for everyone to replace him.

But he seems to still have a value when used well in midfield.

Impressive to be leading at half time away to Wolves with a 2nd string team. Hopefully the lads can hold on for a result.

On the penalty it was a trip, not surprised Mike Dean needed VAR to help him out.

I love hearing the crowd again, even if its not our own. The piped in crowd noise was ok, but lacked the pure emotion of live fans in the stadium.

My thoughts entirely. It's a dead rubber, last game of the season, and even in a half full stadium they're making it hostile.

There was a passage of play midway through the half when Wolves won a few tackles and made some nice passes which got the crowd going - it really took me by surprise as I haven't been used to hearing that 'wave' of noise happening when it's not a shot/goal.

Sometimes I do wonder what you do to get to positions like Jenas have?

Like he is some kind of "expert". As much expert as some Alfred or Johny after one night at some bar.

He clearly has something against us. Not once have I seen or heard him say something that actually is useful.
was he in the spurs side that let a three goal lead disappear against us?

All things considered a good first half from the lads. Yes, Wolves scored, however that's basically because Matic slipped in the build up and meant Wolves were able to create an overload where one wouldn't have appeared otherwise. Compared to the performance against Leicester this has been much better. A lot of players are looking much more likely today.

Absolutely made up for Elanga. For a kid to come through our youth system and score. He must be feeling like a million bucks at the moment. Great moment for him and his family.

Great penalty by Mata. Not sure what the 'controversy' about it is. Van de Beek clearly got kicked in the ankle. The commentators protesting that the ref didn't see it in real time doesn't suddenly make kicking ankles legal on a football pitch. Honestly, had that happened in the centre circle it'd have been awarded and nobody but the stats guys would remember it after the game.

That was a very entertaining half. The team is playing with energy and fearlessness. Lovely goal from Elanga and a beautiful moment for Mata. Amad has quite done well but tends to overdribble a bit. VdB has had an effective game too.

I think it's a pen. Anyone who's played football can tell you getting your ankle stamped on like that would hurt.

Not sure why he should be expected to just limp it off...

They've got cheek saying he dived considering the belly flop Traore took, then Silva falls down a few minutes later after feeling a strong breeze.

    wth is Jenas on about

I loved the half except for conceded goal. Watching Elanga, Amad is exciting. VDB has been ok, James too.

That guy giving the two fingers after the pen
    You do miss the crowd

Better than Fred - wonder how it would work alongside Scotty
Fred is a better ball winner than McT. McT is not bad in any particular area without being standout in anything either. If you keep Fred for the ball winning and Donny as the pivot, you're probably going to see a more proactive transition than McT and Fred. Of course we've barely seen that tested enough.

Exactly, stay on your feet and the defender has done just enough to put you off your chance. Because Refs simply will not give a foul unless you hit the ground.

I don't know where this inane line of thought originated from, but every time these dickheads say, 'if they have to use VAR to see it, it isn't a pen,' I lose a little more hope in humanity. That's the point of it!! If the referee missed nothing, then it would never have been implemented in the first place.

Indeed. Almost as stupid as saying 'there was contact so it has to be a penalty'
    What rule is that exactly.

Since when is kicking someone on the ankle with studs a “slight touch”? This commentary is pathetic.

They'd say he could have stayed up if he'd taken an axe to the ankle to be honest. Wolves fans right up for it, need some sustained possession in the second half to shut them up

Amad is clearly struggling a bit to find his rhythm and make the right decisions but you can see the talent. Silky touch and really light on his feet.

Lots of running off the ball and we haven't been caught offside one (or did I miss one?). Bit of width, some passion, clearly some youngsters looking to remind Ole they are at the club which is nice

Thought he's looked very good other than some positional issues which is expected considering he's playing CF for possibly the first time.

Bottom line is, no one can reasonably judge how much contact is enough contact. Refs don't give a foul unless you hit the ground, that's common knowledge and is taught in the academies. Not sure what choice players have.
