    Really, really enjoyed that.

Few things I noticed, AWB isn't high and wide enough when our CBs have possession (mostly Maguire) noticed him gesture to him a few times that he could pick him out if he was higher. That should come with increased understanding and confidence though.

James started the half with the ball not sticking, got better as the half went on though.

Besides that I thought we was great. Rashford and Martial in their respective roles are miles better suited. Rashford has more space out wide to use his pace, and Martials close control keeps moves ticking over better than Rashford does in the middle

Wolves will surely come out better for the second half, they've been so defensive surely that's gonna change. Pogba and Lindelof need to improve their passing, been sloppy. Rashford, Shaw and AWB very good.
I can live with poor long balls, need to take chances when they sit deep, but sloppy short passes from Pogba and Lindelof is not ok. Looked better last 20 minutes hopefully they can build on that.

    He looks a little nervous.

He fits in well with the shape of the team though and his pressing is a definite asset.
Totally. He looks very, very anxious. Even his goal last week was nervy as hell, the way he hit it. I think that's just his personality.

It looks as though Ole has told him to bomb down the right and to try to win freekicks. But I think he's taken the instruction too literally. After that he got booked, he got even more nervous snatching at things.

Solskjaer needs to calm him down and tell him to play his natural game. If he can, he'll settle down and be fine in the second half. To be fair, it looks as though that's already beginning to happen.

    My take on the half

    - Solid defensively and also keeping possession
    - Pogba being Pogba with some scary mispasses and a couple of beautiful balls
    - Dan James bit too excited first 20 minutes but calmed down after the yellow
    - Martial has been great holding up play and super finish
    - Our pressing has been good and Wolves have been unsettled since the goal

Lingard has done barely anything bar the goal. Just because we had a great half doesn't mean we're going to give excuses for some poor players. If we were losing with exactly same Lingard performance today, he would be slaughtered easily.

One thing that's completely overlooked is that our attacking players will get much better due to playing against this defense in training every week.

Some very harsh criticism of Lingard on here. He's not the most creative but he gives everybody an option and strings everything together nicely.

Lindalof is the only player who's not had a great game so far.

Cannot believe the drivel on here, its a very professional energetic performance and people are griping and nit picking, get a grip

Rashford confuses me. Honestly don't know what to make of him. At some points during a game you think 'wow this kid is nailed on to be world class' and at other points he simply looks so poor.

James is poor and nowhere near good enough, but his selection is totally on the shoulders of OGS. Nothing wrong with buying him as a cheap punt for potential, but relying on him in gameweek 2 is simply silly. He's no better than Greenwood or Gomes, but is being selected.

Martial is 'meh' - feels weird to say that when he has 2 in 2, but he just seems to be 'decent' when he could be so much more.

    Slabhead and ObiWan looking good!
I've seen oads of non United fans saying this is the best half they've seen from United in recent memory and then you've got this post.

AWB has made such a difference, he's playing like a 100 million player. The fact people wanted Meunier is laughable, he will have a better season than Maguire.

Wolves are hard to play against, but we crafted a quality goal and have probed and kept the ball intelligently and pressed well when we don't have it, we aren't trying to force things and eventually Wolves are going to have to show more ambition and we can get in for the second.

James has a job to do and it's working. Wolves have zero composure at the back and are losing possession many times over because of the press. Second half adjustments should be interesting by Wolves and the counter adjustments made by Ole and co will be fun to see.

Lingard or James to score the second and shut up a couple of posters.

Yep, it could very well come from a defensive mistake. And as two of the hardest workers, they could very well be put in on a one on one.

We've been dominant in keeping the ball. Now we need to obviously keep doing that, step it up a notch to open them up a little. I feel like with Lingard in there #10 is a bit of a wasted position for us.

That's the thing isn't it, the players grafted like mad men in that first half, I hope they can sustain that level of work rate for the entire 90 minutes. Wolves will make us pay otherwise.

AWB is too saucy, already my favourite player.

Thought Martial’s first touch was incredibly sloppy in the first 20 or so minutes - however the goal changed everything and he’s been superb at holding up and linking play since.
Should’ve scored from the mistake of the Wolves player though.

James needs to improve his technique, but you can’t fault his work rate.

Midfield doing a good job, all things considered.
And defence has been solid too.

The day that we're happy as long as our number 10 does a defensive job is the day that I officially hang myself. Surely we should be able to trust the back 7 to win the ball and primarily judge our number ten on the attacking qualities he brings to the team.
I am not happy . If we could merge Lingards pressing and energy with mata's ability on the ball then we would be swimming. With that said i can understand why the manager would opt for less ability on the ball and have better ability to retrieve it and give it to the better players on it.

    Very good so far.

    Martial could be on 3
    James is rapid
Pogba is playing a proper controlling, sensible game
The defence is working well, all covering each other
Seriously quick transitions to attack, largely down to the defence and Maguire in particular
AWB is impossible to get past

    Negatives:
    Martial should be on 3
Lingard is a weak link, at this tempo his touch is off and he's not involved enough
    James is very raw
    Both teams are bypassing midfield

Lingard in that 10 is refreshing. He's tracking around everywhere and generally linking up with players simply enough. I've seen him bust a gut to win the ball from deep and make driving runs forward. Really pleased with him.
I really struggle to see how Lingard at 10 is 'refreshing'. The only thing refreshing about him is that he is rewriting the notion that the key technical players play there. Cloggers that run around like headless chickens but do nothing on the ball can be the key part of the attack too. How marvelous.

James has not been top of the game today but despite that he presses well, tracks back well and because he holds width draws players to him leaving space inside.

Needs to work on his crossing a bit though. Hopefully he gets a goal or assist to shut me up.

Don't be fooled by this First half Wolves team.
They have some good ball players but their coach reins them in.
We've got to be very vigilant.

Nice to see a different type of performance demanded from Ole of patience.

Mature performance so far but it's only half way and we'll have to get even better to keep Wolves out after their half-time bollocking.
