Is it going to be safe to follow this thread tonight? Or are people going to be idiots and start posting spoilers/scores from the Champions League?

Schneiderlin was poor against Spurs, but it's idiotic to keep Carrick in the team at his expense. Carrick is fecking useless, yet he plays every fecking game for us. This version of Carrick + Fellaini is probably the worst midfield I've ever seen and that includes the Park - Rafael combo.

Actually like that team, Fellaini will offer strength.. if he's shite though LVG will sub Herrera off

I wouldn't get too excited about Herrera. LVG will probably bring him off at half time, put Romero up front for his height and presence while Rooney comes in for one the obligatory fullback substitutions while kissing the armband ala Captain Bigman.

Its great being a United fan these last couple of years.

Kind of funny that we would probably be better off with each of those sub players starting (apart from Romero of course). Valencia at right back, Young left (though I guess TFM is better off then either of these, but still), Rooney top, Memphis and mata alongside Martial in the front 4, schneiderlin next to herrera in midfield.

Fellaini in the team always makes me feel annoyed. Though that is the midfield 3 that did well last season, it's just unlikely it will be used in the same sense. If a 4-3-3, it's not bad. In a 4-2-3-1, Herrera will likely be the 10 and fellaini as the holding mid and that's just shite.

Lingard back to the right then. Hope we play 433. Don't want to see Fellaini or Herrera playing so deep.

Adrian is a pretty decent keeper, how come he has seemingly been dropped?

Anyway, who knows which United team will turn up today.

I don't have any expectations anymore, just gonna wait and see what happens.

Payet is obviously their main threat, but Lanzini is a tricky player too.

Looks like a 4-3-3 to me.

Fellaini, Carrick and Herrera from left to right and a front three of Martial, Rashford and Lingard from left to right.

If Herrera joins the attack, it's a 4-2-3-1.

Pretty decent lineup. Schneiderlin in place of Fellaini is the only thing I can pick at.

    Our strongest bench in awhile.

With no Reid, Martial and Rashford can get at their defence. I like the inclusion of Herrera ahead of Mata to add speed to our play. Not sure why Carrick stays in, but I'm assuming it's for his leadership qualities. Also great to see our best defender/midfielder/winger TFM starting. Almost excited.

Takes Rashford off at half time and starts him in a game 3 days later. The man is genuinely nuts.

I'm so glad Mata has been dropped at last. He's been poor for so long no matter what position he's in.
Really excited to see Herrera in as well I hope he does well.
Only really Carrick and Rojo worry me in that lineup to be honest. I don't mind the rest, Fellaini isn't the best player in the world but if he's not playing a double pivot with Carrick and he was allowed to attack with Herrera we'll have a chance today.

    No kiddies I see.

Adrian doesn't play their cup games.

One too many hopes there mate!

    1/3

Rojo, Carrick start. Darmian not in the squad I suppose everyone convinced themselves that every goal vs Spurs was his fault! I think Rojo is considerably worse than him. Fellaini is in to 'handle' Carroll. Let's hope for an unlikely win.

Why the feck are people surprised that Fellaini plays (given that he's good at defending set pieces) after what has happened to Arsenal during the weekend?

Nevermind that Schneiderlin probably needs a rest, Herrera's playing and BS is still injured.

Randolph and his younger brother went to my secondary school. Talented sporting family.

    Ah right, thanks.

Hopefully that'll prove to be a mistake by Bilic.

Nah man, we hardly ever get a shot on target, and when we do, it's nothing that will trouble the GK. West Ham could play a lamppost as a GK and we still wouldn't shoot, let alone score.

You know what people are like.

Anyone who does post a CL score, I'll threadban and delete the post if I see it. Though these days I don't really follow the matchday thread much.

I can see why he's put Afro in there, they have a tall bloke, so let's use our tall bloke, let's hop he doesn't haul Rashford off at halftime because I don't think that kind of shit can really help a player, especially a young one but I'm glad TFM is playing, I like the cut of his jib.

Why do people get remotely worked up about the line up? It makes zero difference to how we play no matter who we have out

Pretty much. People have been dreading rooney coming back, but we play no better without him.

It's a bit depressing that's for sure, but for some reason I'm still hoping we can at least test this keeper at least a few times tonight.

Mata definitely deserved to be dropped but so does lingard and if any combination of players could potentially offer us some fluidity moving forward I really feel its the Herrera and Mata combo, so not happy the one game ander plays mata is out.

Anyone know which channel our game is on in Mexico? We have "cable" on the TV which has fox sports, ESPN etc. Can't find it yet. Asked around a few bars but the CL was dominating
