    United squad:

Goalkeepers: David de Gea*, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant

Defenders: Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Ashley Young, Victor Lindelof, Brandon Williams, Axel Tuanzebe, Harry Maguire.

Midfielders: Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Fred, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Nemanja Matic.

Forwards: Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

Pogba on the squad. Hopefully he sees some game time.

United down to 8th now after both Sheffield United and Wolves won away.

Don’t think PP will start but if he’s travelled he will get some game time.
Big question is whether Watford fancy it and try and attack us, or just sit back and do what others have had much success with this season.
Would love to see Greenwood ahead of James as I think we will need more than just pace to break them down.
Martial needs to show us more, too.

I really hope we smash Watford tomorrow. Watching City vs Leicester now and it's painful how much better of a team we are than Leicester, based on our own game against City. But Leicester wasn't dropping stupid points with weak teams and they are on 2nd, where we don't even think we can make top 4. Sucks

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw

    McFred

    Lingard

    James Martial Rashford

I was going with 0-3 for this one before I remembered how utterly inept Watford are at the back, so I decided 0-5 would be the more likely outcome. Then, of course, I remembered that we never score five goals so a 0-5 scoreline is out of the question too. It was then that I realized, after careful deliberation, that a compromise was in order. So I landed on 0-4.

    Tldr;

We're going to win this one 0-4.

Personally would like Greenwood to start at RW and bring on James as an impact sub. Good to have Pogba back. I think he wont start as he won’t be match fit but a cameo off the bench would be nice to see.

    Starting XI

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Shaw

    McTominay
    Fred

    Greenwood
    Lingard
    Rashford

    Martial

    subs:
    Romero
    Tuanzebe
    Williams
    Matic
    Pogba
    Pereira
    James

    Score Prediction:
    Watford 0-2 Manchester United

Win tomorrow and Spurs defeat Chelsea and we'll be 1 point away from top 4! Too good to be true.

Greenwood should start on RW , Watford will be going ultradefensive and we need him to create a magic moment.

Then when we’re up 1-0 , James can get in and make some absolute scenes on the counter.

Guessing Pogba gets 20 mins for Lingard.

Still disappointed at dropping silly points at home to Everton. Could have been 4th at Christmas with wins over Everton and Watford.
Am not at all confident of winning tomorrow. The end of last season broke me. Our players have become too soft. Can honestly see a 1-1 draw again. Watford will be up for it. Will we?

    De Gea
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Williams
    McTominay - Fred
    Greenwood - Pogba - Rashford
    Martial

Greenwood ahead of James to add goal threat to the side.

We don't have a good #10 so why are we playing front 3? Pogba won't play tomorrow, and even if he did, we are not sure how he will be as #10.

I know it won't happen, but I would love to see Ole play 4-4-2, tomorrow, so both James and Greenwood can start. Given they will park the bus, this may also be a good opportunity for us to try 4-4-2

    DDG
    AWB – Lindelof – Maguire – Williams/Shaw
    McT – Fred
    James – Rashford
    Greenwood – Martial
If we have to play 4-2-3-1, I would put Greenwood as the advanced striker and put Martial behind him

    De Gea
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Williams/Shaw
    McT - Fred
    James - Martial - Rashford
    Greenwood

Yup, I think them being 2nd has to thanks a lot to the fact that other teams don't see them as a big team yet.

I've watched a few matches of Leicester this season and no team did park the bus against them. They all tried to play to their strength wanting a win rather than go all defend hoping for a draw.

1-0 Watford, Pogba lazy pass gets intercepted they break, smash it against Ashley's Young's back for an OG

I think we need to stop blaming other teams for our lack of abilities. Surely everybody was taking Liverpool even more seriously than us and plenty have parked the bus against them, but the won every single game, except the one against us (still warms my heart).

Leicester is ahead of us because we have issues we have to work on (inconsistency, lack of training for how to play against weaker teams etc.). That said, I think we have significantly more potential than Leicester. And if we use it, we can be miles ahead of them. Ironically, in our best games we already are.

Confident for the win. But absolutely no confidence of us keeping a clean sheet. 1-3.

    Pogba in the squad

When he comes on for the last 15 minutes, no doubt the match day posters will be expecting him to run through the entire Watford team and score the goal of the season and also to ping a ball from our box onto Rashford 's right foot running into their box for Rashford to score and to set Martial up for a tap in from an overhead kick from the half way line.

Otherwise, he's clearly not interested and will be off on January the 2nd.

After not having kicked a ball for 3 months, I'll just be happy if he comes on for 10 minutes and doesn't get injured again.

this is the first time this season we've been at full strength

let's hope this team gets 10-15 games together and I'd say we will make great strides towards top 4

    Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is for Manchester United to win against a team in the lower half of the table.

I haven't been a good boy this year but I promise to leave you a can of Stella to drink with your Mince Pies...

I will be interested to see how Doucoure plays against us. I have always thought he is a terrific player, and had advocated putting in a bid for him in January, but sometimes he seems to disappear in matches. No doubt today he will look world class.

Gonna miss the game but hope we can grind out a good away win and the team continue showing confidence to break down compact defenses

No you don't get me, I don't blame other teams. It's totally logical and normal for smaller teams to sit back and defend against bigger teams for a draw. It's the job of bigger teams to break down that defence and win, which we've often failed so far.

I just pointed out a fact that I've noticed that may explain the fact we're better than Leicester while they managed to have a better position in the table than us (which you have noticed and pointed out in your previous post).

Tough game loading. Our Achilles heel so far with Ole, is playing sides like Watford. Hopefully we get through it. Top 4 race is looking on and it'll be negligent not to at least give it a good go.

    Fair enough.

I think it also has to do with the fact that we are in the middle of massive rebuild and that naturally brings inconsistency. Leicester, for one reason or another, seems to be much more stable.

If Pogba plays today and their is even a semblance of any of our fans booing or treating him like shit I'll have given up on em.

He needs to get a massive fecking cheer. There is this thing called support we used to do. Hopefully everyone are actual fans today and not just angry irrational people. Somehow I doubt it though.

He'll get the same reception that Lingard did after his return. Our matchgoing fans are the best in the world.

I don't expect Pogba to even make the bench. Too soon in his recovery. This is more about cheering him up by making him feel part of the squad again after months of frustrating and depressing injury.

There's no chance of Pogba starting today. He's only been training for a few days after a lengthy layoff due to injury.

Lingard will start at 10, most likely.

I seem to remember him coming back in a previous season after a long term injury and went straight back in the side. He really looks after himself so he's naturally a fit guy anyway.

I won't be that shocked if he starts to be honest.

Watford were decent defensively against Liverpool, missed a few sitters too. Dangerous on the counter but the finish was lacking. They wont be pushovers and will give it a fair go. 1-1 draw
