No way Ole will give this cup up as he desperately needs any results to reduce the pressure on him. He's gonna cling to it by all means even in harm to PL.

We've got to rotate surely, we can't risk anymore injuries on a dodgy pitch and against a physical lower league club.

Liverpool gambled against Everton and so should we. Lingard, Romero, Shaw, Jones, Bailly, and Periera are the only players I'd risk.

Laird, Greenwood, Garner, Chong, Fosu Mensah if fit, Gomez and a scattering of other young lads to make up the rest.

Of course any manager should. This might be our best chance of a trophy even if we probably has to beat City in this cup too if we want to win it.

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Jones Shaw
    Pereira Garner
    Mata Lingard Chong
    Greenwood

Can't afford to risk the likes of Martial, Fred and Maguire on this pitch so don't want to see them at all to be honest.

We should be okay but yeah, this definitely has potential banana skin written all over it for a team like ours.

Let Laird, Gomes, and Chong start. They've played on Tranmere's dodgy pitch about 1.5 months ago. They ended up losing 2-3.

Thing is, a lot of our most talented u21s didn't even play to Tranmere's luck. Greenwood, Garner, and Williams did not play against them. So if you include them as opposed to the other lesser u21 talents that took part in the defeat, it's already an improvement.

Add in a few older players and Tranmere are there for the taking all while resting some of our first team players.

I reckon we'll have a pretty strong team out today. I think Ole will be mindful of losing the match which would mean massive pressure on him to be sacked.

Why do we rest Martial? He has done F all. Play him and tell him to start earning his over the top wages!

It’s not the type of game I would pick him for and expect a good performance in fact I think he will have an absolute mare but lack of options means he might have to.

United's 20-man travelling squad vs Tranmere: De Gea, Romero, Grant; Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Jones, Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw; Matic, Fred, Pereira, Gomes, Lingard, Mata; Chong, James, Greenwood, Martial

Walking past the Lowry and the United team bus is there. Any requests for something to shout out?

You'd do well to inform Luke Shaw of the virtues of Prenton Park's chicken balti option for when he's selecting his half time 'orange' :)

Brandon Williams was the only first-team regular not spotted by photographers as United departed Carrington on Sunday morning. It is possible he may have travelled but could be being rested for this week's trip to Manchester City. Williams has played in each of United's last six games.

Agree with you but Ole has to pull him aside and tell him to up his game and the side needs him. He is just so frustrating.

Covers remain on the pitch as rain continues to fall
There’s been plenty of talk about the playing surface and games here have been postponed recently due to a waterlogged pitch. At the minute we can’t give you any insight as to the current state of the pitch as it’s fully covered up.

Staff are still working hard to ensure it’s ready and it’s wise they’ve got covers on it given it is still raining. It’s a sell-out here despite the game only being confirmed on Thursday night. No matter what state United are in they continue to be a big draw.

What Casey Stoney said about Tranmere pitch
Tranmere have been having real issues with their pitch and their FA Cup replay wasn’t the only postponement in recent weeks.
United Women were due to play Liverpool here a couple of weekends ago and that was postponed for the same reason.
Casey Stoney spoke to the MEN about the state of the pitch.
“Our staff were already at Liverpool when it was called off and the pitch wasn’t safe and wasn’t playable so it was the right decision,” she said. “Just frustrating the pitch was of that quality.”
They’re about to pull the covers off so it will be interesting to see what sort of state it’s in today after the work they’ve been doing on it.

Resting Brandon Williams for Man City :lol:

This club has become a farce and I genuinely don't mean to disrespect the guy cause he has done well but feck me.

This is team is at the bottom of league one in the 21st potition their budget is probably 100k and some are nervous about the game.. Just shows what United have become.

There is always a danger of an upset when faced with lower league teams regardless of form, especially having to contend with a dodgy pitch.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we lose or draw this one. You'd have to assume Ole will be for the chop in the event of a loss.
